Ruined his career legacy by having 6 months in Saudi Arabia? Not to me he hasn’t.
Do you also apply that logic to Christiano ronaldo, Karim benzema, Steven Gerrard, Tyson fury, Anthony Joshua, Alexander Uysk, deontay wilder? Who all are currently on the payroll of the Saudis.
Also let’s not forget every player from every country who played at last years World Cup in Qatar. A tournament built on slave labour in a country that shares very similar laws and views as Saudi Arabia?
How about the worlds elite golfers? Have they been stripped of legacy too?
I think it’s disgraceful some of our supporters turning their back on one of our own. He’s represented us exemplary over the years. But 6 months in Saudi Arabia and his legacy is destroyed?
Get a grip.
It comes down to residency for tax. If he is in UK for more than 6 months of the tax year, his worldwide income (incl Saudi income) will be subject to UK tax. He could offset any Saudi tax paid (which would prob be bugger all), leaving a liability to HMRC.
If he stays out of the country for more than half the tax year, he could declare himself a non resident and just pay the relevant taxes in the countries he works.
Dont think the deferring of the cash is relevant, as it will go on when it was earned not when it was paid.

I absolutely do apply the same logic to all the people you named including all the golfers who willingly took Saudi money. I didn't watch a single minute of the Qatar World Cup.

I could understand anybody going to Saudi for the money. I'm not happy about it but I understand it. But what sticks in my throat about Henderson was the pedestal he placed himself on as the champion of equal rights, a figurehead of what little of the good is left in football. He quicky jumped off of it when the £££ were wafted under his nose. And then you have the NUFC/Saudi link on top of that!!!? Honestly, I thought he was the last, and I mean the last, footballer I'd have expected to play over there.
Yeah there are varying degrees to it and what you say about Henderson is why he's at the worse end of the spectrum for me.

These causes, wether it’s gay rights, racism, diversity, women’s rights, are shoved down their throats constantly. They are asked about these issues time after time in interviews, and they know 1 wrong word could potentially end their careers.
You say he’s placed himself as the champion of equal rights, but as Liverpool and England captain, he probably didn’t have much choice. From taking the knee, to rainbow laces and armbands, kick it out warm up t shirts. Plus endless interviews asking him about every woke subject, all nothing to do with football.
As Liverpool and England captain he’s probably been asked to figurehead an equal rights movement and he’s accepted. Saying no could be career damaging in this day and age.
If hendo was captain of Liverpool and England 30 years ago, I’d have everything I own on him having nothing to do with these issues and just concentrating on his football.

This is looking more and more realistic with each passing day and I am all for it.
I feel like the expectation for us in this window is to continue recruiting young and mostly from abroad where the markets are a little cheaper, so it would be sensible to also make an Alan Browne/Cory Evans type signing to maintain a balance in experience, especially in terms of Premier League experience which we are woefully lacking in.
Jordan to sign a 2-year contract in June and he will shine as our number 4 (bracewell version).

It's not so much him playing there. I've worked in the Middle East myself, though under sufferance at the time.
It was the pedestal he seemed to enjoy being on. He was a high enough profile bloke to be asked questions about the various issues he championed, but he was more than keen to be go further, even at one point implying that people who did not kneel down at the appropriate time were " part of the problem".
