To put some numbers on that,I was looking at FBRef earlier in the week. Some of our stats are damning, but with Burstow I was pleasantly surprised.

At the top of our shots on target: Kamara 14, Pedro/Burstow 13, McLoughlin/Belloumi (yeah, i know) 11, Gelhardt 9 (pens don't count)

Burstow has only completed 10.4 90s, compared to Pedro's 23, and Kamara's 24.4

Coincidentally, Joseph has also played 10.4 90s. In that time he has 0 goals, 0 assists, 4 Shots on Target. Also, he has comfortably our worst pass completion, at 53.9%, which is over 12% worse than the next worst (for players that have played over 10 games)

I knew i wasnt talking ****

Which is why i was so annoyed at him
As in the rare times the ball gets to him

His first touch and/or ball release are woeful
And he seems to need that tiny bit of extra time with the ball you dont get at this level

Hes a league 1 level player all over

Yeah, full season. Tragic innit?

Burstow has also had the same number of shots on target as Slater (8), Puerta (4) and Alzate (1) COMBINED (and they've been on the pitch for 74.6 games)

I do think there's an argument to make to put Burstow on from the start on Sat. He feels like the kind of player we need in this game.

In spite of my ongoing posts about him, I'd say it's too much of a risk at this late, crucial stage.
I'd say he's been really poorly managed over the season. Had he been used more then maybe different answer.
Bit late now bringing him in pretty much from the cold and expecting him to make a real difference.
As manfully as Macca has filled in at LB, I feel it could have been similar with Jacob too.
For me it would be Burstow from the bench if needed (and no, not at 87 mins!!)

Go 442 and stick Joseph and Burstow up front let them constantly harass the defence and get shots off then when they are knackered bring on pedro, might work never know.

I understand those concerns but as so many have pointed out - we have barely looked like scoring from open play since the international break.

I wouldn’t want to change the structure of the team in terms of defence and midfield as we still need to stay in the game, but we do need to do something different up front as this time we HAVE to score.

One goal in open play, from a deflected shot which was going wide. :emoticon-0107-sweat

Baz saying he expects Alzate to go which is no surprise really. He thinks that Puerta will go also and expects us to follow through with signing Zambrano now which we wouldn't have if we got relegation.

Too early to talk about transfers to be honest, with Acun we don't even know if Selles will be around.

Good thing is, we can still reach 500 pages in this thread.

Transfers will go ahead regardless of manager, but yes, Baz also suggested it's not cut and dry if Selles will be in charge or not.

It would be insane if we ripped it up and started again. We need some stability. Don’t mind selling some to generate funds but if we have another summer and another manager it’s just asking to be here again in 12 months

and there was me thinking one day we’d see all three together. Be gutted to lose Puerta, he’s great to watch.

Yeh I'd be very surprised but then I was shocked when Rosie went. I'd like us to keep him and aim for stability but I do hope with a transfer window behind him and less pressure on the players that the way we play changes a bit. We pretty much look like a league one team tactically, the way our passing has regressed is wild.
