I could be talking **** But im pretty sure the bottom half of league 1 is the weakest its been for a long time Even a **** cobbled together squad should be able to finish mid table league one
Who was picking out players in the league one pre season? I dont think id trust any of the brain team to
Signing Smallwood was exactly the right thing. We were weak as piss in the middle of the park Identify the problem and rectify it unlike our recent January window and the scattergun approach
But we don't need a ball winning number 6 - we need midfielders who can piss about making 2 yard passes as this improves our possession stats
To put some numbers on that,I was looking at FBRef earlier in the week. Some of our stats are damning, but with Burstow I was pleasantly surprised. At the top of our shots on target: Kamara 14, Pedro/Burstow 13, McLoughlin/Belloumi (yeah, i know) 11, Gelhardt 9 (pens don't count) Burstow has only completed 10.4 90s, compared to Pedro's 23, and Kamara's 24.4 Coincidentally, Joseph has also played 10.4 90s. In that time he has 0 goals, 0 assists, 4 Shots on Target. Also, he has comfortably our worst pass completion, at 53.9%, which is over 12% worse than the next worst (for players that have played over 10 games)
The fact we started this season with a weak, gutted squad and pinned our hopes on signing a lower tier German CDM that we didn’t get is really really poor by Acun.
Sorry, is that for the full season? Our highest shots on target player is 14 for the full season? That’s less than one in 3! That’s ridiculous.
Talking of Baz, I really don’t get the negativity toward him from some. To me he comes across as a lifelong Forest supporter who’s employed as a journalist to cover Hull City, and I think he shows an interest, and regard, for the club. I’ve just listened to his podcast from yesterday prior to the Pompey game and, as usual, he pretty much nails everything. So can anyone tell me what their issue is with him, other than working for a much maligned rag?
I think there's a lot of mistrust for reporters of any paper amongst City supporters. Obviously as someone not born in the area I have absolutely no right to speak about why that may be so maybe you or someone else more knowledgeable can comment on that, but it's not just Baz I've seen at the end of it.
A selection of our fan base seem to have issues with anyone in the media. Whether radio or print. It’s odd.
FIFY There’s some who don’t like rugby, who don’t like people who like rugby, don’t like people who support teams that aren’t from Hull, don’t like people who aren’t from Hull, don’t like people who are from near Hull but not Hull, don’t like people who captain their hometown club, don’t like local people who don’t play for their hometown club but play for another. The list is endless. Don’t envy your new Mayor - they’ve got a hell of a job.
I don’t want to get into the whole Hull FC v Hull City coverage issue from the HDM but that’s certainly an issue, real or not, that lights the blue touch paper, and some appear have had long term pleasure in highlighting it at any given opportunity. However that has literally nothing to do with Baz Cooper so I still don’t get the apparent ill will towards him from some.
