We lost players last time we went down (Lavia, JWP, Tella to name a few) but we still were strong. There's no evidence at all to suggest we're going to do a Luton.
Lincolns incredible evidence we're going to be a Luton rather than a Burnley.
1)-Apart from Dibling, Fernandes and Ramsdale we've no one clubs are going to pay good money for.
2)-We're going down as one of the worst teams in PL history
3)-We haven't got a manager and the bloke we're most linked to has won an entire 6 games since Jan
4)-Our recruitment is really really poor. There's absolutely nothing to suggest they're now going to get this right
5)-SR has told us all along their entire plan for our club is to be a player trading company, their attempts to make us a Temu Dortmund is not going to lead to success
6) Birmingham (and to a lesser extent Wrexham) are going up with a tonne of momentum and money behind them. We're still buying academy cast offs in the hope they turn good.
TLDR; We're ****ed.

Apparently Rohl has virtually said his goodbyes to Sheffield Wednesday today in his pre match press conference.
Said about his happy memories at the club, said that his time started away at Watford and that’s where they finish the season next week.
His family will be at the game tomorrow, and that the club are aware of his decision, as he wanted to let them know as early as possible.

I've got to be honest, i'm less optimistic about our chances of an immediate return to the PL this time as it stands, I wouldn't say that we are "****ed" though. There is no doubt that the squad going down this time is weaker than two years ago and a lot will depend on the managerial appointment and player recruitment and at this time I can't be confident of predicting next season.
I checked to see where Derby finished in the Championship in 2009 out of interest and they had a poor season finishing 18th.
I'd like to see a manager coming in asap with a full pre-season and get our business done early as regards to players and hope that we can hit the ground running this time.

There should be little excuse for not doing this, given that we've been relegated so early. It's one of the few benefits of being relegated so early!
No doubt we were hampered last season by not knowing until the end of May as to which division we would be in. It's the total opposite this time. Unfortunately, I have little faith in SR to duly take advantage.
Agree with that because apart from anything if the derby is early in the season, I can see them beating us tbh. I've said it before but for me, this summer is last chance saloon for SR.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though. Having a squad packed with Championship quality players should hopefully mean that there's a lot less upheaval this summer than two years ago. We've not exactly got a catalogue of players who will be of interest to bigger sides. I appreciate that might not be great from a financial view point, but that's tough luck on SR. But from an on-field playing point of view, I see it as a good thing.
I agree though about morale being lower this time. And it's why I want a new manager through the door asap. Get him in front of the players before they go off on holiday.
Except they have - they sacked the board members responsible for the mess, and they sacked the recruitment head and brought in a highly rated person to replace him. So they demonstrably have learned.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating - it's nearly impossible now with PSR restrictions to get a team promoted, then stay in the PL without doing a Forest and cheating. Martin Samuel wrote a good piece about it in The Times this week as well, with regard to the issue with relegation wage drops - no middling player at Brighton on 40-50k a week is going to say yes to a move to somewhere like Saints on a similar wage, but with a probable drop to 25k or something with the inevitable relegation.
So until such a point as the halfwits in the FA and EPL get a more sensible system in place, the only conceivable way of doing this (other than cheating) is by taking risks on both recruitment and managerial appointment. Getting out of the Championship as a relegated team is the 'easy' part (yes I know it's not easy per se, and there's always the risk of falling in the play offs, as per Leeds, but if you can get back up the following season it's not the end of the world, also as per Leeds).

1) We didn't have those three players last year in the Champ, and we still got promoted.
2) Irrelevant really. There's very little between us, Leicester, Ipswich, despite the low points total.
3) Is Rohl the messiah? No, probably not. Will he be better then Martin? Yes, comfortably yes.
4) Recruitment last time in the Champ was very good.

6) Not worried about either of those two to be honest. Big step up and Birmingham's owners are more comical than ours. Ipswich and Leicester will be the main competition. Oh well, can't expect it to be easy.
If we go up next season I think we just need to go **** it, take the points deduction and spend more money in the transfer market on better players.
I have heard though that SR are installing anti tank barriers around St Mary’s.

I had thought it would take us 2 seasons before we could get promotion after Nathan Jones took us down. We did well to go up but clearly the club was not ready.
I think we will be mid table next season. There needs to be a massive clear out in the club. It looks like Rohl is coming in. I am pleased about that. SR will hopefully have learned their lessons. They have been out of their depth so far. No experienced enough.
If any of the relegated sides will "do a Luton" it will be Leicester. They are in financial trouble as it is and don't have many players that they'll be able to sell for a good fee. Saints & Ipswich will be able to raise £100m fairly comfortably. Leicester will do very well to get £50m.
