What he achieved with Wednesday last season was phenomenal. That was a squad of players that scraped promotion from League One via the playoffs, and which had little spent on it to improve it for the Championship. Their second half of the season form, spread over an entire season, would have earned them a playoff spot, with 74 points. And they were winless when he took the job.

Apart from that you have the whole Rangnick thing, plus the fact that he has been assistant manager at Germany and Bayern, and that a lot of clubs in Germany seem keen on him. Clearly he has a lot of respect over there already, despite his young age.

Cooper would be much better than Farke, Farke would be much better than Rohl. I don’t think we’ll end up with any of them

This. Plus he's managing a club owned by a complete crackpot.

This is probably about right, though I'd switch 'much better' for 'a bit better' in both cases.

I think Cooper and Farke would hit the ground running, whereas Rohl might take a while longer. In the long term though I think Rohl would surpass the other two, and I reckon he'd be the only one of the three to keep us up in the Prem.

Cooper a one season wonder with Forest and then that was just the playoffs, I’d be devastated if we’d stayed down and went for him. Each to their own but I don’t get the appeal

Were you devastated when you appointed Farke?

No, I was aiming my sights higher but then reality kicked in as we were linked with the likes of Parker, Gerrard and Lampard. I do question Farkes ability in the PL but that’s not what we needed at the time, we just needed someone to get us out

Ipswich have to be favourites for top spot, nobody wants the playoff lottery so you need to be above possibly Sunderland or Sheffield United

I think all fans set their sights too high

Also on Farke, since he joined us, he can add two seasons where he’s amassed over 180 points, another promotion and a play off final

His stock value has increased in the last 24 months so judging him when he took charge to judging him today, his stats have increased no end

Cooper is clearly a step above Farke so I don’t understand how you’d be devastated with him and not Farke.

Agree on the question marks for the PL and would be wise to sack him now rather than in November when it could well be too late. Ultimately the most important thing is the summer window, need to sign probably 10 players and basically all of them need to work out well to have a chance.

I’d agree Ipswich are big favourites, they have a very strong Championship side and won’t lose many/any players

Not sure about that TBH. It all depends on what happens over the summer - for them, us and Leicester.

Ipswich should be big favourites unless I’m missing something. Only player who might leave is Delap and that still leaves them with a very strong Champ side with a lot of proven top players at that level

It depends hugely on what happens over the summer. But right now, I agree with you. I'd most want to be Ipswich. (And of the three relegated clubs, I would least want to be Leicester.)

Yeah too early to tell of course, but I can’t see that much upheaval with them. As I said Delap seems like the only one who will be leaving who they would want to keep, and McKenna will stay which gives them some continuity as well.

We are looking at losing probably 5 or 6 who we would want keep, plus a similar amount who we will want to move on. Need to replace them with maybe 5 in total and a new manager, it’s a lot of change that may/may not work

Delap WILL leave. So might Hutchinson and Enciso will go back to Brighton. I think both us and them will be in a good position TBH.

Agree with this. I think Rohl has better potential high points but lower potential low points so it's whether we want more risk for more potential reward I guess.

Only reason someone doesn't sign him this summer is a bad injury.

If I was Delap I'd be crapping myself now if I had read this. <laugh>

Yeah, he is off. I believe he has a release clause too and City have a sell-on. Ipswich won't even get that much for him so they'll definitely have to sell 2 or 3 others.
