Was away for this with no radio coverage so was checking on here and the Sky Sports News app and haven’t seen any mention on here of Hughes’ absolutely immense block to keep it at 1-1. If it had gone 1-2 that could have been a totally different afternoon.

Don’t know how to post from the SSN app, but it’s on the short highlights and could have just saved our season.

At the risk of bringing this thread down, City have a long tradition of losing the last game of the season. Even in the glory promotion seasons of the noughties, we always lost the last game.

Got to do the business on Saturday IMHO.

Coventry need a win against Luton to try and get past Bristol or they play Sheffield over two legs. Of cov do win we need just a draw against derby but obvs a win would be better…..

If Luton lose in the early kick off they can only get 49 points, so even a draw against Derby would most likely see us safe. I’d still like to see them go for it whatever happens though.

It’s an absolute must win for Derby, so hopefully they leave themselves open.

Coventry play Middlesbrough on the last day, they have to beat Luton to prevent that being a ninety minute play off for a play off place!

Another massive 3 points at a time when many had written City off. We clawed our way back when it really was do or die. Calm heads and vocal support is what’s needed this weekend.

Gelharte showed us exactly how to do it.

Alzate playing like he thinks it's too easy for him. A few assists would make that more believable

His persistence got us both pens as he won the header just before Gelhardt was karate kicked and then chased a lost cause. Very difficult as a lone striker against a back 3

City showed some bottle and fight for perhaps the first time in the season.....
For a team 'with nothing to play for' I thought Preston turned up for it, but City just about deserved it at the end...Selles calling for a full house, next Satdee, and similar backing which was for me the best at home this season....Well done the B&A army. Literally sucked the lads down to the south stand goal in the 2nd half.

Coventry didn’t beat us and were pants today. Wheels have come of so can’t rely on them.

Good post HT....Definitely pens, both of them. I'm in the S-E corner so close to both...Geldhart got kicked in the side of the head. Joseph pulled back as he was about to shot on goal.

Some of those that were slating Joseph during the game would be well advised to stop posting during the match itself, purely to stop them looking like poodles.

Cov were probably better team against us bit they’re struggling in both boxes after Dovin went down. Have to hope Frank can get them going for the last 2 games

The first half went exactly as feared, but the second half wasn't the uphill battle I expected. Everything we needed to happen did happen. An early goal to change the mood completely and in turn lift the players. An actual penalty for us! And then a second one! About bloody time, just as I'd asked for. They didn't come out of nothing though, first one happened because we put a couple of good balls in and won some headers in their area which had them scrambling. Second one again was a good ball and a really good shot from Macca which had their keeper at full stretch and giving us a follow-up action to win the penalty from rather than him saving comfortably like usually happens. Doing those things is one of the big things that stops us scoring more goals. We need to find ways to do this more often.

Someone else mentioned the ref being good. Obviously I'm biased and the penalties help hugely but I was impressed by him too in general. The way he handled Amrabat vs their defenders was really good, he could've given a lot of fouls but he let them go at it and didn't give soft defensive free kicks for the sake of it like they often do. And then not stopping the game for the geek on the floor with his hamstring injury, brilliant; there's no need to stop the game and it's a weird thing that's crept into the game to stop it every time someone is down.

Still some usual frustrations like the constant corners to the near post, it's really weird how we like to keep trying that again and again with absolutely zero success. Don't know what the thinking is at all. And it kills the atmosphere at times when everyone gets up for it after some pressure building and then we do that stupid corner.

And the fact we tend to be really solid in defence on the whole but always have a single soft goal in us. We don't concede many but we spread them out so that it's at least one a game which is so damaging. Clean sheets get you points. And this was the case last season too. It's a really strange ongoing issue at this club.

There's no lack of fight. But belief was gone in that first half. Ruben did well to whip some of that back into them after half time.

Thought Macca had a great game, he cut out so many things at full stretch and it was the precision of his shot that caused them the problem that led to the second penalty. And as a small thing I really liked Puerta's contributions in injury time, taking the ball down rather than hoofing it when we had time, encouraging others to do the same and giving them an option to pass out, then winning a foul in one case and almost winning the throw-in on halfway the other time. Those are really important when you're hanging on, just to break up the flow of attacks.

Today was my grandson’s first City game, he’s clearly a lucky mascot, so I hope to take him to his second City game on Saturday.
