Generally a better performance all round, and the much better determination showed in the 2nd half, lead my Amrabat, was the key to getting the 2 penalties. I thought all the back 4 played well, special mention for Macca, after him being withdrawn on Friday, to come back and put in a good performance, credit to him. Yes, he put the ball out for a corner from which they scored from, but I think he needed a shout from Pandur that he had time. I am surprised how quick Egan is, when he chased Osmajic back to make the block on the dead ball line, he certainly showed a turn of pace. Amrabat the standout, Joseph again worked his socks off, and his determination to get to the ball which lead to the penalty was crucial. Well, all hinges really on this Derby game, win, and we are safe, draw and as long as Luton don't win, we are also safe because of goal difference.
Good comment about Egan, he has quietly come in nd solidified our defence. Not that there was a problem with Alfie Jones, but Egan has been a better defender in recent weeks. I hope we keep him next season.
2 recovering blocks Egan made today. Chefs kiss. I think it’s fair to say Dublin has a decent idea on how to build a squad
Great result today, great determination to get back into after they could easily have let heads drop. Shame about other results not going our way but I suppose you have to stay up yourself not hoping everyone else does you favours
As Benjo says. The post wasn't saying that it has "to be a certain goalscoring opportunity to be a penalty"! The whole post was basically about our ongoing inability to score goals and fear about the next 2 games. It really wasn't hard to understand.
He really didn't. The Preston player pulled out of the challenge so his foot was miles away, but it's possible (I couldn't slow it down enough on the Sky clip on a browser) that he might have caught him with his knee. Our luck was in for a change.
Saw it on tv last night and Utube this morning. Nothing to changed my mind. Some refs might have said no, particularly those who aren't termed as 'homers'.
Only safe if we draw if Luton actually lose. If they draw and we draw, then they can still overtake us on the last day irrespective of goal difference, and so can Derby. Baz has also been banging about City being as good as safe if Luton lose. Absolutely not the case. If they lose and we lose, they can still overtake us. That’s why we have to go for the win against Derby.
I don't care if the first one was a penalty or not , the ref gave it We've been on the wrong side of plenty of those decisions , nice for it to go our way for once
I presume this is the rule by which he gave the penalty. Dangerous play includes behaving in a dangerous manner that threatens injury to an opponent or oneself, such as high boots, playing while on the ground, or attempting to head a low ball when an opponent is trying to kick it. While dangerous play may not always involve contact, it is penalized to ensure player safety.
Yep. It always happens with high boots though doesn't it. 9 times out of 10 someone stoops near a foot and then falls to the ground clutching their head when there was no contact, and it's just accepted. Usually it's not in the penalty area though. Every so often someone actually makes contact with a kick to the head but it's pretty rare.
Love this from Amrabat btw Perhaps easily won over after his perfomance, but the simple "Keep calm, breathe, you got this!" Can sense how much it means
Amrabat is the experienced wiley old fox(tiger) every team needs. He’s been there and done it and knows how to play the game in a way that isn’t always totally honest. We needed him yesterday . Our very own black and amber “****house”. My MOTM.
