Os, why do you put up a reasonable point, which could at least open up debate, then remove all possibility of that happening by saying things like “as usual…I am right”. Nobody will ever take you seriously, even when you deserve to be, when the multiple times you’re shown to be utterly wrong, you just ignore it without acknowledgement and carry on to the next thing on your agenda. EDIT: I do realise that’s exactly what people like Musk do, so perhaps there’s our answer. But then they’re childish and aren’t interested in learning, or any form of debate, so I’d suggest not looking to them for inspiration.
His ambitions on Greenland certainly aren't for the common good. The natural resources attract as do those of Canada.
https://x.com/jdvance/status/1892569791140946073?s=46 As usual, JD Vance has a good and eloquent take on the situation.
Yes, the climate changes. There is some really excellent science here going back over 50 years. There aren't programmes being funded (apart from fossil fuel lobbies) now because it is accepted fact. It's like evolution in that regard. I haven't seen your previous posts on this, so please furnish with facts on that our current rate of climate change is not man made. I'd love to read them. The medicine cannot be worse than the illness in this regard (though there are some really stupid energy policies, you are certainly not wrong there - a great example is a landowner near to me who wants to put in a wind farm where we have enormous hydro potential. We already as a community produce 9000% of the energy we use through hydro. It's clean, it's efficient and it's low maintenance. What sense is a wind turbine?). Unchecked the consequences are truly catastrophic and I would really like my Son to have a fulfilling life. Things need to be done very quickly, there's a good chance it's already too late, but you have to try. If you have children and care about them, it's too important to be left to chance. Also, a big IF it's not as bad as the huge amount of good science suggests, we will have shifted to more sustainable practices, produce less pollution and will eventually be more efficient and healthier. The eventual goal is positive. Also, you said about being woked to death. What's that? As I understand it, I don't see woke as a bad thing - tolerant, accepting, equity. I'm not sure where the problem is.
the art of the deal it does seem like the Ukraine thing is being thought of like real estate. Russia has the leverage as it has the territory, so Ukraine doesn’t have many bargaining chips, so deserves to lose some territory (in his mind). Though the US can help in return for some mineral rights and everyone is happy. As long as you’re not Ukrainian anyway.
Anyone who thinks JD Vance is good, eloquent, worth listening to, or more than barely human has issues. Oh, but he did say Trump was a modern day Hitler.
In this time it is nice to see Tories and Labour both uniting against Trump’s lies. I recommend anyone interested in truth watch GB News attempt to side with Russia and Trump, only to have Tom Tugendhat very carefully destroy their position. Not a Tory fan, but this is eloquent and good. https://x.com/DomDoodle/status/1892518569063121215
Radio 4 interviewed a senior Republican this evening and it appears that at least 50.per cent of the Republicans in the Senate are incensed by Trump and biding their time regarding making a move against him. The Democrats are shocked but the Republicans have started to realise that Trump has performed catastrophically badly in his first month. It also looks like Trump’s approval rating has plummeted in the first post inauguration survey.
Most worryingly, it seems like one of the uniquely sensible voices in his team regarding Ukraine, in Keith Kellogg, is being sidelined.
If you voice an opinion to Trump and you are not propping him up (Musk and Putin) you will disappear.
Press conference between Kellog and Ukrainian team cancelled by US. It looks like Zelenski will humiliate Trump and there will be no ceasefire. Good that Starmer and other European leaders are sticking by him. Looks like Trump.will be humiliated.
Not sure I'd go along with your thinking there, Ian. Trump isn't going to be 'humiliated', regardless of the fact he doesn't understand what the word means, let alone the feeling. This is more to do with Kellogg being an eminently sane voice, and therefore being sidelined (I fear).
So Trump’s thin skin is upset regarding the “insults” from Zelenskyy. Ironic much…? David Lammy is worse than useless, but he’s quite right when he says that peace could easily be achieved - Russia just need to withdraw their troops from Ukraine.
I don't disagree with anything you have said mainly because I am not particularly familiar with the science about man made climate change. Less pollution in the air and the oceans has to be a basic objective, although cynicism to the alleged causes are understandable given greed rules the world. But your last paragraph is questionable. We all know that the original meaning of woke has changed or hijacked if you prefer. In the same way as calling someone a do-gooder is not a compliment, woke is now a term for calling out self righteousness as I'm sure you know. Anyhow, the claim that woke is about the values you mention is a myth. Tolerance, acceptance and equality are only seen if one conforms to the woke people's beliefs. Any other opinion or behaviour is most definitely not tolerated, you only have to be a regular on here to see that.
I agree that Trump is thick skinned and he won't understand what humiliation feels like. The Senate will recognise this and when America starts being ostracised by those countries usually considered to be allies, I think the opponents will make their move.
Should they just continue this war ad nauseam? At least we’re witnessing an attempt to end this instead of this god awful trench warfare. The lines of communication have been opened. The Ukrainians or Europeans don’t have to do anything they don’t want to, but I’m pleased something is being done
Why do I keep hearing this completely weird equivalence being repeated? The line to peace has been open the whole time. Russia just leaves or Ukraine gives in. All Trump has done is given in on behalf of Ukraine and the en attempted to bully Ukraine into giving her resources to the USA. If Trump had come at the from a neutral point and started with a clean slate, I was all for it. I even said as such a week ago. But he has sold Ukraine up the river and this whole thing is a farce.
It is funny as people who express views the right don’t like are often called Woke or Libtards. The fear of wokeness is just a lot of people lost in the identity politics bubble.Step outside and touch some grass.
