He's only been registered for us this season. That caveat might have applied to previous seasons, though - it sounds familiar. The only exception I can think of now is if players transfer to a foreign league where seasons overlap with our own.
****....how complicated can it get!? Can't the very well paid people making these rules, come up with something easier to work with and to understand?
It's only justifying their existence,I suppose.

The rule is daft anyway, why does it exist

Kimpioka deal agreed

Belgian club OH Leuven have agreed a deal on St Johnstone striker Benji Kimpioka - and that will alert Championship clubs.

Former Sweden under-21 star Kimpioka, 24, had spells at Sunderland, Torquay and Southend and could be on the move again in this window.

OH Leuven, which is under Leicester City’s ownership, have agreed terms with St Johnstone which shows they are ready to do business this month but other clubs are watching developments.

Kimpioka, who has been in Scotland for 18 months, could move elsewhere in Europe or get another Championship club with several watching.

Agreed!

In the lower leagues, I think you can still play for as many clubs as you want in the same season. Don’t know if it’s a non-contract loophole or because of semi-pro status but I remember Moses Ashikodi played for like 6 teams in the same year.

I reckon it’s probably because the bigger clubs will find a way to take advantage and I imagine it would be bedlam if clubs could recall loanees willy nilly and send them to other clubs/feeder clubs. Obviously all hypothetical but Man City could send several players to Ipswich just before they play Arsenal and Liverpool to give them some better players then recall them and send them to Southampton to do the same thing. The chances of that are probably very slim but where there’s so much money involved and clubs doing dodgy overinflated transfer deals amongst each other to beat PSR I wouldn’t rule anything out!

I get that but 3 clubs make sense to me, parent club and 2 half season loans

Don’t do it Duran

21 year old and going to play for a nothing team in a nothing league, sad.

If this keeps up it'll have a knock-on effect with clubs like us imo ...

... good young prospects will be bought up and stockpiled as Chelsea did.

I actually think it’s better as it is tbf only because I think it’s bollocks when things like the Louie Barry situation happen. Stockport flying this season and have their best player taken away simply to send to a club in a higher division. Really unfair on them. Obviously they know the rules when they make that loan deal but if they don’t agree to a recall clause then they don’t get the player initially. Do understand your point though it could go both ways where player goes on loan and only features once or twice then can’t be sent elsewhere because he’s played for parent club once at start of season

I think they've tried to meet in the middle as it is, can register for 3 but play for 2 but not sure it works, allowing them to register for 3 just makes more situations like the Louie Barrie one, and mean he has no chance of featuring for Villa once recalled

He’ll be back in Europe on loan in the next 6-12 months probably to the Saudi state

Tin hat on. Villa want X for Duran. Chelsea want to pay Y for Duran because of PSR. Saudi middleman comes in….

Duran goes to Saudi for £60m. Felix goes to Villa on loan from Chelsea to cover his position for the rest of the season. Chelsea sign Duran for £30m in summer. Both Villa and Chelsea PSR looking healthier.

Sad this.... obvs going for the money, when he can get very well paid anyway, in a much better league. Stinks of an agent not caring what really benefits the player.
To be honest at 21 if Sunderland was an option I’d have rejected big offers but only if Sunderland was an option. Otherwise it’s a job, get paid as well as you can for it.

Massive loophole isn’t it, grim but can see why they do it
