I've got a feeling, it'll be jack Clarke until the end of the season. Think Ipswich signed another midfielder and JC was out of their match day squad for the last game.

Back to us and announced before the Boro game.

I'd love that

Would be class but we could do with another forward and a full back.

Régis Le Bris says that Sunderland are preparing for the possibility of transfer deadline day impacting their preparations for a crucial Championship game against Middlesbrough.

The January window closes at 11pm on Monday, around an hour after Sunderland’s game at the Riverside will likely finish. The Black Cats still have some business to conclude, with their search for another forward player ongoing and a number of fringe players potentially departing to try and get more regular game time.

The Black Cats would ideally like to get all of their business done before Monday, preventing any disruption to Le Bris’s matchday squad. The Sunderland head coach says he knows this might not be possible in an ‘unpredictable’ transfer market.

"Because the market is unpredictable. We will try our best to protect the team because we have two timelines, how we want to prepare this game to be fully engaged and at the same time, we know so that some adjustment [to the squad] could be useful for the future. We will try our best to try and manage these two timelines properly."

If he had composure he'd be in the prem tbf,

Even Isidor has his moments, Burnley springs to mind, although not as often of course,

Also think Mayenda has got a lot better in front of goal as season has went on
Keep saying it, but Mayenda rarely misses the target. Lowest number of off-target shots per 90 in the league, while still having 8th highest number on-target, so his overall volumes are good. He makes the keeper work more often than not. Definitely room for improvement, but he's still a high-performing champ striker as it stands.

Agree I think the versatility is a big thing and it seems the club know what they want so hopefully we get some positive news next few days. Isidor will be our main man all season so we don’t need an out and out 9 because they just won’t end up playing much. I’m hoping in the summer we make singing a new RW our priority because Roberts position in the team is pretty much nailed on due to lack of competition and he’s not doing enough for me.
This is part of the reason why I don't want us to do too much right now - or at least nothing too long term. A summer rebuild with loads of money doesn't actually have all that many positions where we have clear opportunity to make ourselves loads better. Right wing is one that I'd be targeting for a real game-changer for sure.

Yep just needs to hit corners more

Joe Anderson poised for Sunderland loan exit

Sunderland signed young defender Joe Anderson from Everton in January 2023. It looked like another classic Kristjaan Speakman signing; a young player eager to play first-team football, and bound to blossom into a star player.

But that’s not been the case. Anderson, 23, has played just four Championship games for Sunderland, with just five appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats.

Sunderland AFC News can reveal that Anderson is set to leave on loan before deadline day with League One duo Bristol Rovers and Exeter City both keen.

Theory: The club sold him to Ipswich assuming that they would likely only last that season in the EPL. The club also knew that this would be the year that we would be really going for promotion. SAFC pass ITFC on the way up and would want to take Clarke back as he knows how SAFC work and was happy there. The only variable was how much game time he got at Ipswich, which it would appear was not much. This is now playing into our hands as we could have the opportunity to get him back early, ready for the promotion push.
Or am I overthinking it!!

I mean this with every due respect but I'm amazed he'd get a League One move.

Ipswich signing Philogene is basically them saying Clarke has no place in the team imo. Same position, younger, bigger fee. I’m just not sure what the point is to be honest he’s a proper winger like Clarke who clearly doesn’t fit their system so I don’t know why Philogene would be different. Their transfer strategy has been a bit bizarre imo but they’ve nailed it the last few seasons so again I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt because I think if they do get relegated they’ll end up selling Delap for £40m+ plus a few others to re-coup some of their losses then as long as they keep the majority of their squad they’ll go straight back up.

Regarding Clarke.

Wouldn’t it be strange if Ipswich were relegated, we were promoted and Clarke came to us on loan.

Unlikely I’ll admit but there could be a scenario where a Championship side is loaning us, in the Premier league, a player who can’t even get into their squad but is a regular in ours.

At the time, I wondered if we had a buy-back clause in the event this happened. If so, loaning him now makes even more sense imo.

We could just sign what the manager has stated he wants haha, why do we have to fail or not get it done? We deserve nice things we don't always have to miss out haha. We only need 1 or 2 at most imo, I think we will manage it
We booed the young team currently sat in fourth, a few points off the top and only behind parachute payment clubs, off the pitch after a draw on Saturday. I know this post will get most people's backs up but I think we 'deserve' no more or less than most others.

RE Clarke I'm surprised there's not been more interest in him, arguably the top performer in the league last year and out of favour at Ipswich yet been no interest from any league for him. A couple clubs could do with a left winger as well, Us, Middlesbrough, Sheffield Utd etc.
