My theory is that he has great raw attributes for the No6 and thats where Monaco saw him, however, lacks discipline and wants to get forward too much for for the position at that level. Maybe why they let him go and hopefully more than good enough for us as a box to box.

Good point. Whilst there’s some overlap between box-to-box midfielders and defensive midfielders, to be a good defensive midfielder you need to have positional discipline and awareness. Just look at Kovačić at Man City in Rodri’s absence. He’s a quality box-to-box midfielder because of his work rate, tenacity, ball-carrying abilities and so on but he just lacks the discipline to be a number 6 and it’s a huge reason why Man City have conceded so many goals this season by their standards, especially on the counter.

Alzate’s doing a fine job as the number 6, though I still think he’d offer us more creativity as one of the number 8s as he’s the best passer since Seri left. I think Matazo and Slater will fight for one of the number 8 positions and Crooks and Puerta for the other. Don’t see Palmer and Mehlem being around come the summer and Ömür might leave sooner.

Looking at the still of their disallowed goal, I think the player who headed it on may have been just off when you look at the line on the pitch.

I thought the flag went up before it got to that stage.

What I liked about tonight was that the players seemed to finally want to play for the shirt. We finally are not getting bullied in midfield and with all due respect to Coyle we have a leader on the pitch. Looks like good recruitment and this is the type of football we were promised. I guess Wilder set his team up expecting tippy gappy football and playing it out from the back

No, I think he's seen us and had us analysed in the last 2 months.

I don't think he expected quite the battle he got though.

Neither did I to be fair.

Well that was well worth having to sit on the naughty step for not watching The Traitors with Mrs A.

I am lucky my wife loves football and since she met me became a City fan. Knew her a whole 3 weeks before taking her to her first game when Pearson scored 4 against Portsmouth. She leaves me to it with my beers when City are on SKY and watches it in the other room or upstairs depending what time it is on. Comes down to let dogs out and discuss game at half time. If it is a stream and I am watching on ipad she keeps track on scores on her ipad and by hearing how many times dogs bark after me screaming yesssssss or telling someone they are a useless twat. Can have intelligent conversations with her about football.
Little things like that are why we celebrated our golden wedding last year.<laugh>
