I've always found your observations on games and players more insightful than most people's. Maybe your lesser interest in formations contributes to that. I think people get really bogged down with it sometimes and fail to see much else.

Aside from Whittaker being expensive, he also seems like the complete wrong profile for us. As I understand it he's a right-winger with a very good left foot who likes to cut inside and shoot, but hasn't been at his best this season and doesn't always convince with his work rate. Don't we already have exactly that in Kamara? Another reason to doubt that rumour I think.

If I was Middlesbrough I’d offer next to nowt. No one else will want him. In reality we’d probably get half his wage on a loan till the end of the season. What a complete disaster it’s been. He’s hardly covered himself in glory either.
