Is this the most excited you have been about a new player to watch. Or was it someone else. Just to pass the time while he collects his scarf.
2 jump out for me for different reasons

Was buzzing when we signed Ballard, been a huge fan of his for a few yrs before joining us

The other one is Sessegnon, I remember seeing him for PSG vs Arsenal in a preseason friendly and thought wow what a talent. Couldn't believe it when we signed him, loved watching him play

Loved watching Sess. We had some lovely footballers in that period, real technicians. He was one of the best.

I remember that friendly in the Emirates Cup. Was my first sighting of him and I had exactly the same reaction when we signed him.

Possibly the most excited I've felt over signing a player was Craig Gordon, not so much for the lad himself but for what the signing seemed to represent. I couldn't believe we were spending that kind of money at all (£9M if I remember correctly?) never mind just on a young keeper. It felt like the club was about to take off with Quinny running the show, Roy Keane in the dugout and owners willing to spend unprecedented amounts (for us) on transfer fees. I wish I could have bottled that feeling to help get me through the 13 or 14 years that followed lol

Remember being over the moon when we signed Melville, Ferguson, Grey, Rogerson at the same time only for the daft sods to all be in the same car crash.
Back in the days when you had to pay a pound a minute on clubcall for transfer news, had a few clips around the lugs back then when Buzby dropped the bill on the mat.
