Thing about this is it's kinda a new era in how deals are structured - and it's been brought on by FFP pressure at premier clubs largely. I don't think there's really a settled precedent yet. So let's be prudent before committing either way. I think that's what Kieran would say at this point
Not saying I wouldn't want Barry, but just playing devil's advocate; he's in demand because he's scored a lot on loan in League 1, isn't that exactly what Kamara did? Is he necessarily a cut above Abu based on that?
Statistically best performing championship left back over Xmas according to www.whoscored.com. Almost as good as me getting best fancy dress at brid spa aged 6 and meeting Keith Harris and his 'naughty monkey'. But not quite. Well done to the lad nonetheless.
He's always said that everybody in the league would be after him, we are interested but he played down our chances of getting him. I think he underestimated Acun's ability to sweet talk people, but to be fair, so did I. If we pull this off, fair play to Acun.
Or the new manager/ brain team? It obviously isn't a given, but it would it even be realistic under Walter?
We've kinda established that was Kathryn Batte's opinion as opposed to what actually happening. We're not in for a right back. Not unless Liverpool come knocking for Coyley as a replacement for Trent anyway.
Not so sure I trust a Leeds source that we're definitely getting Barry either, though it is a credible source. Not just yet anyway.
I think it only says in the article that we're another team in for him. Says we're confident because of the relationship and package we can offer and that's it. I need something more concrete than that to get carried away.
15 goals in half a season is a bit more than Kamara managed. He's also spent time at Barcelona and done well almost everywhere he's gone.
Naive to think our whole transfer policy has changed because we have a competent manager, the ‘brain team’ will still be involved somewhere.
It's Dublin now as director of football. Completely new structure since Tan's departure. Jesus Christ, people do like to ignore what's actually happening for a lazy ****ing assumption don't they?
The policy didn't need changing, we signed plenty of good players last season, the final say from the manager needed to change and it has.
****s sake... Erm, no. That's a bit like saying the coaching hasn't changed because Dawson is till on the staff. There's been a complete boardroom restructure, new head of recruitment too. But replacing your director of football is in itself a complete change of direction. Otherwise what's the point? The changes have been rung. Oh, and it's spelt 'personnel'
Boardroom restructure is irrelevant to the transfer/recruitment team. Mustafa Yokes and Merthan Acıl are still there but the ‘brain team’ has a new head (Dublin) however the structure remains the same. They look for players and Selles approves? Like I said, it’s a personal change. Dublin coming in hopefully improves things because our recruitment has been chaotic since the Turkish brain team has been involved.
Yes, and Selles approving was the most vital change. Like LR he looks like he's trying to identify good personalities that will fit in the team, something TW clearly didn't care as much about.
Don't think tan cared too much either. It's a completely different strategy this time around. Previous Champ/EFL experience paramount.
