Kalman is right Gelhardt definitely isn’t the type to lead the line, but he is a versatile forward. 3 goals 3 assists last time he played regular for Sunderland. Hopefully it’s with a view to being permanent as at one point he looked like a potentially future England number 9

I watched geldhart quite a bit a Cpl of seasons ago, my grandson and his dad are Leeds supporters so it was on when city weren’t playing. Every time he came on though he made a difference, tricky little player, good dribbler, my grandson loves him, said he can’t believe he’s not played more games for them, hates Bamford by the way, a complete waste of a player his words not mine lol. I remember he scored a cracking goal one game, Leeds we’re playing crap, losing 1-zip, he came on, scored and assisted one 2-1 to Leeds, my grandson said there I told you… I have no idea of his fitness etc now but to say he’s crap is a bad choice of words.
Looking at his stats, he seems to have been quite prolific at Junior International level but seems to have struggled to take that into club level.
Geldhart with an option to make it permanent makes sense. Short term it will offer some cover across the front 3 and potentially make Burstow back up to Pedro and the focal point.
Long term I can’t see him getting a look in at Leeds so should be available for a sensible amount and if he can kick on with his development he can be a very useful addition to our attacking options.
It’s risk free overall as if he’s crap we can end it with the loan and he can’t be any more useless than Big Chris

Loans a good move, getting a chance to see his fitness too before committing.

I actually watched Zürich vs Sion earlier in the season and Kabacalman played. He’s okay but not really a number 6, or at least not a ball-winning one. He’s like a poorer version of Seri. Likes to have lots of the ball but he was playing next to a much more physical midfielder when I watched that game and the other guy Baltazar was the more impressive of the two centre-mids for them imo.

I struggle to watch City games(Saturday apart) let alone the Swiss league.
It’s an okay league. There are some talented players in there who could play at Championship level and some even higher.
Crooks definitely adds some much needed physicality, Puerta is small but very dynamic. It’s just about balance at the end of the day isn’t it. We can afford a more slight ball player if they’re surrounded with physicality. Right now I don’t think we have that, we certainly need it for the position we are in
I agree, usually when a team plays that 4-2-3-1 shape like we did under Rosenior the ‘double pivot’ is staggered so one sits a bit deeper and the other a bit further up. For most of last season, Seri was the one sitting deep and Morton or Slater the more advanced. For the last few games, notably the one against Ipswich, Rosenior switched it so Seri was the more advanced of the two and it worked well. He got into good positions so that his passing was used in the final third more compared to the first and middle thirds.
It’s also the reason why I would like a physical number 6 this window and push Alzate up as a number 8 because his passing is currently by far the best in the squad.
