Didn’t even technically negotiate this one either, it was just an option that was triggered on his current contract.

I reckon it was triggered more for the Asian market Son brings us than actually adding any potential value to a summer sale.

..and hoping that the new bloke comes in and does OK to fill that gap! There will be quite a few empty seats once the Koreans walk away....

That’s my thinking too.

The man is literally a rockstar throughout all of Asia, let alone just Korea.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the club thinks Yang will have a similar effect, it’d be lovely if he could emulate Son but it’s highly unlikely. Lee Young-Pyo was a decent player in his own right and he never brought waves of Koreans to games.

On Son, he might not be what he was but still has plenty to offer. If we can get some proper support for him so he hasn’t got to play every game then can still get some time out of him I think.

I’m sure he was consulted as he deserves to go out on his own terms for everything he’s done for this club and if he didn’t want to stay then we wouldn’t have implemented the extension.

We need a starting winger and Son to come off the bench with 30 to play so he can maximise his energy in that concentrated time

but he’s too big a player for that to happen and instead he will start and carry on performing as he has been doing

I still think the tactics and system are about 80% to blame for his form. The inverted FB bollocks takes up empty spaces that Son would at times run onto and it feels as if Ange would rather Son play as a wide winger more so than an inside forward that every other manager played him as. The fact so many other good players are out of form too definitely reinforces my view that Ange is doing a **** job of maximising abilities.

We need to give up hoping Ange is changing any aspect of his team set up

he’s a stubborn prick

It’s clear nothing’s gonna change from his perspective and it’s why I said we’ve gotta back him with quality to allow him to succeed.

So of course we bring in a GK when we already have 4 at the club and are being linked with a loan move for Kolo Muani, a player who won’t raise the quality level.

It’s like the blind leading the blind with this board and Ange.

David Ornstein also said the board are still 100% behind Ange as they believe in the project, I wish I knew what the project was.

This is why I haven’t been outright ‘Ange out’ yet…replacing him might help pick up more points due to new man not being as stubborn but sooner or later we will be bogged down in no man’s land of the league again, hoping to scrape 4th spot year in year out at best with no real desire to win any cups ever.

If you hire a manager then surely you know his MO as a coach…if you hired him to not back him then what does that say about you?

Nowadays I see everything as an exercise to expose the hierarchy who are the real problem

I said the other day I think a lot of the reasons the majority of the fanbase haven’t gone “Ange Out” is because they’re so ****ed off with the board it’s sort of like a protest to force them to buck their ideas up.

I’m not sure the reasoning of why the board haven’t actually sacked him yet though because Ange’s win ratio is now bombing past almost every other manager we’ve sacked under Levy.

100% the only motivation for buying Yang

Levy hoping to lock the Korean market for another decade

nothing to do with football

Or maybe we’ve scouted a player and seen potential in them so rather than wait for them to go to another team only to pay 3 times the amount in future (which people often moan about) we’ve actually got in on the ground floor on this one.

You sort of have to have a little sympathy for Yang, he’s still practically a kid and he’s joining a club where those above are probably banking on him being as good as a club legend and absolute superstar.

No pressure or anything, mate.

I dunno mate I see it more as Levy wants to lock that market having seen the money rolling in due to Son’s status with our Korean superstar reaching the twilight of his career

Hope you’re right though and Yang smashes it for our team
