To be fair, he doesn’t really get any credit anyway does he? It’s always seen as ‘good buy’ - nothing to do with levy ‘Bad buy’ - why is levy buying the players and always interfereing
Just when I thought we were past the "PL teams only sign Asian players to flog shirts in the Far East" discourse... The point is that the main traits that both Japanese and Korean football prioritise is pace and workrate, and that's why several members of both national teams ply their trade in the Bundesliga given pace, skill and workrate are traits which form the bedrock of German football which is why any J-League or K-League player with good close control will have Bundesliga scouts watching them ...and it has to be said pace and workrate are also traits Ange looks for in his wide players which is a large part of why Bryan Gil never fit in as his workrate is a little iffy
Apparently Barca were considering signing Son as a free agent in the summer, they would've been able to negotiate a pre-contract this month. There was a rumour yesterday that we were looking to do similar with Jonathan David, though a few other sides were also in the mix. Alphonso Davies, Kimmich, Sane and Ferland Mendy are other big name players who at this moment will be leaving their clubs in the summer for free if they don't sign an extension. Transfermarkt also has Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar as being down as free transfers in the summer too... Imagine if you said that sentence 7-8 years back!
I think I mentioned the Jonathan David thing the other day Seems like something I'd do For the last eighteen months, at the last count...
I'm often dubious of buying from Ligue 1, it's been a bit of a hell hole for us over the years. I think Lloris is the only genuine great buy we've made in the last 15 or so years. Sarr has the potential to be one, he's not been terrible that's for sure but he's not always been great either.
Son isn’t the player he was a few years ago but he has plenty to offer. He needs more rest than he’s getting to be consistent at this point though. I think extending him for a year is a good choice for the club. We just need to be able to rotate him more so he’s sharp when he’s on the pitch!
I think a lot of the players are seemingly not the same player, to the point I think the issues are more deep rooted beyond age or form. I've said a few times recently, if one player's out of form that's on them, when multiple are it has to be on tactics, especially as I will not for one minute be convinced that Son, Maddison, Bentancur, Bissouma (though he really does test my patience), Porro, Udogie, Romero etc are suddenly average or overrated players. It's a far cry from the last few years where we had to endure Winks, Sissoko, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Dier, Sanchez, Doherty, Emerson etc.
Gotta be honest I'm not really one for podcasts but I do like reading up from analysts on players I may not know much about. A few things I've read which sound promising is that he's showing signs of a young Neuer with how he's happy to sweep up, pass it out and has the ability to widen his body to give the impression he's huge in one-on-ones. In terms of shot stopping I believe all keepers should be good at that (obviously) and Vicario is very good at such, if Kinsky can be equal to him on that and his ball work is genuinely as good as analysts claim then he has every chance of becoming number one. I actually hope he does too, not because I don't rate Vicario but signing a backup keeper in January when we had more pressing concerns to spend money on would be an odd choice otherwise. I imagine he goes straight into the XI vs Pool for a nice baptism of fire, I reckon he'll then have about a month's worth of games before Vicario returns.
Ultimately he hires the DoF or Head of Recruitment, and must therefore face his share of the blame if we end up with a Baldini or Commoli pissing money up a wall on useless players the manager doesn't want. Our transfer policy of late hasn't been incredible, but has definitely been a step above the nonsense we saw between Paul Mitchell leaving and Fabio arriving. I'd say the only signings that has genuinely defied all logic in recent years was Richarlison. The only other one that seriously took the piss was giving Conte Arnaut Danjuma on loan in January. It needs someone competent driving a coherent vision and for Daniel to simply stretch the budget as much as possible and leave them to get on with it.
Yeah I been learning bowt this keeper last few days Getting rave reviews everywhere...next big thing vibes Was being likened to Petr Cech Can't wait to do the eyeball test on him Next big thing
Same, I'm gonna give him a free pass for tomorrow though if he starts because if Slot goes strong, he's gonna face about 30 shots from Salah, Diaz and co.
