Really? I think you’ve been spoilt by some of our previous wingers. Remember he held down a spot at Millwall, who aren’t a bad championship team. For me, that makes him more than a reasonable back up. And as he is in a different mould to other options, would be ideal for a spot on the bench for last 30 mins when Belloumi or Millar have run themselves into the ground and we’re 1 up and manager wants to shore things up. It also enables some continuity, that virtue that seems to have been forgotten these days. I suspect we are paying him a sensible wage, so I’d definitely keep him and don’t see it as any sleight on our expectation. Oh and you mentioned last season? Guess you’re referring to Lokiliko, Covil as well as those square pegs who all filled in (poorly) on the wing such as Omur, Slater, Traore, Doc, and Uncle Tom Cobleigh last season. And these were actually starting, not on the bench.
Longman has been one of our better players so far and it would be a shame to see him go. Can’t see us getting a fee for anyone else at the moment though.
When though? I was thinking this the other day but don't squads get submitted at the end of Jan? Or can we deregister Zambrano today?
He is this season, last season with philogene, tufan, twine, Zaroury, Omur he was never going to get game time....if Millar and Belloumi were fit I'm sure he'd have been v much bit part this year too, but they're not so he is now an important part of the squad
Longman is a good impact sub. Always has been, usually struggles from the off. Has to stay around, we paid something fairly minimal for him anyway. If he chips in with 2/3 goals off the bench until the end of the season he’s proven his worht
The 25 man squad can be changed any time during the transfer window, as long as the list is updated at least 24 hours before a game. The final squad is submitted at the end of the window.
As much as a signing today or tomorrow would’ve been a good start and a tone setter for fans, the FA Cup buys a good bit of time. Baz said he hopes there’s ‘some surprises’ by the next podcast on Monday. Fingers crossed Ruben has some news Saturday.
