Not a happy bunny...
The only reasons we have a chance this season are because we have a good goalkeeper and a couple of decent centre backs who can defend the box which now means we can stay in games and try knicking them late on. We’ve also seemingly got a couple of tidy midfielders in Puerta & Alzate who are half decent. We won’t score many but we do seem organised and won’t let many in.
We obviously need to improve both wings, striker and a left back but that’ll be difficult to do all in a month so I think it’ll be a lot like today for the rest of the season, particularly against the stronger sides.
Yeah, my first game since November for various reasons and expected it to be bouncing, or as "bouncing" as it ever gets anyway, after the Blackburn game but it was as morgue like as ever even before it became apparent that we were only going to scrape a 0-0 at bestGood team Middlesbrough, shows what a bit of consistency can get you, unfortunately we have a lot of players out, our third manager in a year and a squad of players unfamiliar with their roles and low on confidence.
Christmas was never going to be easy, but I'd have taken 3 points from the four games.
We must get behind our team, wierd atmosphere at home, I hope Seyes is able to turn MKM into a bit of a fortress
That's not going to happen. 6 or 7 would be fine anyway as long as we don't lose to Cardiff or StokeWe need a minimum 10 points against Millwall, QPR, Stoke and Cardiff. Anything less isn’t good enough.
Think 8 is probably the minimum. Just hope we don’t lose.We need a minimum 10 points against Millwall, QPR, Stoke and Cardiff. Anything less isn’t good enough.
You cant possibly speak for every fan and I would argue that our better players understood it perfectly, hence the great performances at QPR, at home to Burnley, Stoke away where we had Millar (only QPR) Belloumi, Zambrano, Jones and an in form Simons in those matches. Mehlem looked OK and seemed to get it. Macca was trying his hardest to make it work. There was nothing wrong with Wally's style except no one - players, staff or supporters - could understand it. Surprisingly teams like Millwall and Stoke have just passed up the opportunity to experience this great style for themselves - as will Plymouth and any other team in English football.
The goal we conceded tonight was another example of City players not being willing to do the dark arts side of the game. Kamara (too slow), Coyle or Jones should have chopped the winger's legs before he got anywhere near our penalty area
So in short, he was a crap manager thenYou cant possibly speak for every fan and I would argue that our better players understood it perfectly, hence the great performances at QPR, at home to Burnley, Stoke away where we had Millar (only QPR) Belloumi, Zambrano, Jones and an in form Simons in those matches. It wasn't just luck that we beat two sides away from home 1-3. We lost 3 of those players and pretty much our whole attacking ability went with Belloumi and Millar. Replaced by Kamara!!!
As I've said, Tim was guilty of being too stubborn to sit with two banks of 4 and accept that he can't play that style with crap like Slater and Kamara in the team but he didn't and it cost him. He might have got to this point and be able to bring in some quality. We will never know.
So in short, he was a crap manager then
I agree mainly with what you say but with a bit more experience and knowledge Vaughan could have kept possession and gone down to the corner flag and wasted more time trying to get a throw-in or corner klck.On one hand, you can't complain too much if you end up conceding late on when you've hung on that long. It gets more likely the longer it goes on.
On the other hand, I'm going to anyway because there's a lot to be frustrated about with that goal. Starting with us attacking and Vaughan playing in Kamara. Kamara seemed to fail to compete for that ball and went down softly looking for a pen he was absolutely never going to get. Twenty seconds later they've ran uncontested down his side of the pitch and scored. We'd defended so well up to that point, that seemed like such a glaring failure. Kamara had shown his usual lack of energy once already too, when he went on that great run down the right and then just seemed to lose interest and swung in a lazy cross whilst off balance which was easily gathered by the keeper. For a player who has had this question mark around him all season it's particularly frustrating to see him continuously giving us reasons to suspect a lack of application. For all the talk of our poor recruitment in the summer, much of which I think is harshly overstated, spending big on him with the work ethic he seems to have looks like the one big mistake to me.
Just a poor game. Alzate looked bright and Pandur made some big saves but that's about it. Boro have a stack of injuries and to not test a **** keeper more is poor.
Did he even have a save to make?
