Come on mate, what's the surprise? Red or Blue on both sides of the pond are lying, scheming hypocrites who are quite happy to shout from the roof top their enemies indiscretions, even if they do the same. It's politics. They're all self serving ****s.

I agree; that’s what I’ve been saying the whole time.

But a few on here seemed to think Joe Biden was some honourable old grandpa that would save the USA from nasty people.

I have done along with a look at the electoral commission rules for donations and loans which exclude Qatar. This will help to clear up your misunderstanding. It's better not to post links to crackpots on twaXter.

Should that soap reference be regarded as a homophobic slur? Surely something for the mods to consider.

I’ve seen them several times. They were damaged before they ever got to the U.K., several friezes have heads missing where they were carved off and carried away by previous generations of collectors and dealers. Still well worth a visit to the British Museum, which is probably my favourite building in London. It’s absolutely full of plunder, but some of that plunder would never have been preserved in it’s original homelands.

Ignore all the puff and bluster in the media: This has little to do with either government, it’s an ongoing negotiation between The British Museum and the Acropolis Museum, and will happen eventually. There’s a lot to thrash out in terms of academic access etc. If the Elgin Marbles go back to Greece I’ll celebrate that; if they stay in London a little longer, enjoy them while they’re still here.

Tbf, Lord Elgin didn’t loot them he paid for them, and the British Museum have done a great job of preserving them for posterity in the meantime. Trouble is, he paid the Ottoman Turks, not the Greeks, which is awkward. They should probably be returned to Athens at this point.

I don’t think that Joe Biden is some ‘honourable grandpa’, just that IMO he is a nicer human being than Trump.

Low bar that though, so don’t read too much into it.

US psychologist and political strategist Drew Westen - The Political Brain

“In politics, when reason and emotion collide, emotion invariably wins”. The right was much more skilled on this terrain, weaving compelling human stories while its opponents tended to take refuge “in reciting their best facts and figures, as if they were trying to prevail in a high school debate tournament”

Which is exactly my point. You only think this because the media told you to

As opposed to all of your posts, which are scrupulously researched, from a wide variety of sources, guaranteeing a balanced, reasoned viewpoint

Yeah, I saw that quote the other day. I’m not quite ready to believe that the age of reason is dead; but the voice of reason probably needs a more compelling narrative.

Also, there’s no mileage in quoting headline figures about the economy, when those figures don’t conflate with people’s experience of their own personal economy. A pervasive sense of economic insecurity undermines faith in government, whatever story Wall Street (or the City) is telling.

No, it’s obvious to any neutral observer; Biden may have many flaws, but there is an underlying decency about him. Trump is a moral degenerate with no obvious redeeming fearures. I don’t need the media to tell me that (and it’s news to me that they do, in any case).
