Unless some one actually does know then suggesting what type of contract he’s got is pure speculation.

I was merely mooting by inference that maintaining the status quo may be apt to this situation.

I don't think maintaining the "status quo" is an option. I understand Riza was apppointed as an "attack" coach within the management structure and was remunerated on that basis.

If he's going to manage the club and head up the team, he should be awarded some sort of security and be paid accordingly and I wouldn't blame him pushing for that.

Although we often berate them, I hope he's got a good agent to handle it for him and not just accept the job becasue he wants it badly.

I commented on him wanting the job upthread Sparkey. Tan should remunerate him for the position he is employed in (manager) but is likely to get away with any tie in for the reason mentioned. I'm not saying that is right, but it might be a win - win. Riza gets to show what he can do. Tan doesn't take a big financial risk. If Riza is still there at the end of the season, have a grown up conversation about it.
Again as I posted elsewhere, the thing I'd hope for is Riza staying as head coach and a DoF, or interim DoF, or footballing consultant, to be added to the board to take some of the politics away from Riza and get an end to end strategy and road map in place. The footballing consultant to manage the board, Riza to manage the team.
    Tan is too stubborn though.
I wonder if Colin wants a part time role?

That would be a sensible way to move forward

Although seemingly a sensible way forward, I don't think there is any way Tan will appoint another tier of management between him and the sharp end of the club.

Given that Dalman and Choo seem to be the permanent kids on the block locally and effectively carry out Tan's instructions appointment wise, we're unlikely to see a change in that structure.

In overall footballing strategy terms, a footballing guru at the club is something we've been pushing for from the sidelines - but I'm very much afraid that's it's just that - very much from the sidelines.

On the subject of Warnock, the guy could never leave the on field decisions to another guy - it would be a recipe for disaster.

Can't see Colin would want an advisory role. He likes hands on too much.

I don't want Colin anywhere near us. I'm grateful for the one good season he gave us but it's taken us years and quite a few managers to overcome the one dimensional "style" he embedded.

Less interested in his style, more interested in his management of the board.

I would imagine that after the amount he spent, the board will now be aware of his manoeuvres. They won't let him do it again.

Worth a listen from 34:56; most insightful indeed on City post Bulut.

Omer Riza odds just shortened - moved from 1/5 to 1/10 for the job - somebody knows something.................

Surprised by that as I thought his limitations were shown up last night. Albeit with hindsight it seemed the tactics were off kilter and we played into Luton’s hands. Clumsy set pieces conceded and no composure on the ball. Lots of long punts up field to no one. Colwill was neutered. O’Dowda and Tanner were too quiet. If only we had Adabeyo instead of Kanga<doh>

I can’t imagine there’s going to be a decision made just before an international break.

Robbins is now on the market.<whistle>

I think Riza has a lot to offer our club.
He has shown some failings / naivety, but is still learning and will be better for last night and the Brizzle game.
He is still dealing with some limitations in the squad, though a top manager would work around much of that.

What Riza has done is show his coaching and man management credentials.
He has also shown the quality of player we have in the squad (largely good) which would be a selling point to prospective new managers, hopefully appealing to some of the higher end managers that may be interested.

A few questions posed for Tan.
Does Tan have the patience for a coach learning to be a manager on the job?
Would Riza be happy to step back into his coaching role?
Would a new manager keep Riza on as a coach?

Personally, given the relationship he has with the players, him leaving would be a loss.
I think Riza needs someone guiding him during his learning, which would only come from a DoF.

We've come a long way in the last 6 weeks and it would be a shame to waste that.
However, we need to look forward, provide some continuity, and a direction we want to be heading in.
The style of football is certainly a big step in the right direction but that needs to be built on, with a pathway from the academy.

Will Tan and the board recognise that, or will it be lurch, knee jerk, U-turn again?

    It’s a continuing saga eh?

Robins & Riza together? Coventry play a decent hi tempo game. Maybe he’d pinch a couple of their players. Sims is a touch better than Kanga <whistle>

A heavy touch with a super max size baseball bat with back swing and follow through.

Don’t shoot the messenger but I heard from someone Abbadanato has put out a rumour City are still looking elsewhere for a replacement for Bulut.

Also gossip from elsewhere Riza is wanted by an unknown club.

Finally Coventry are eyeing up the Wycombe boss.
