Tony Mowbray has been tipped for the managerial vacancy at Cardiff City, with the former Sunderland boss believed to be able to handle the lack of "football knowledge" at board level at the club. I just love this quote from WOL this morning. ‘Lack of football knowledge’ Knowing our lot however they would probably not understand this article if they read it.
The first step on the ladder is understanding that 'you don't know what you don't know'. The next step is 'knowing what you don't know'. Once you get to the second step, you can do something about it. Unfortunately, our board are entrenched at step 1.
Mowbray certainly has in depth Championship experience but while achieving some successes has been sacked from a few clubs and left his last job at Birmingham due to health problems. Not sure what those were but a few months with our board could be detrimental to his wellbeing. While aged 60 he has a more progressive outlook than Warnock and McCarthy. However he is probably more suited to a DoF role alongside a younger manager.
Tan not convinced we need a DoF (he doesn't know what he doesn't know). Dalman thinks we do (he knows what he doesn't know). https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/vincent-tan-talks-over-cardiff-30021219
Well plenty to think on today after some illuminating discussion at CCS today. Well what have we learned? A DOF? So Tan is not convinced. Ok so what about a full time CE? And appointing a new manager? So Tan again will have the ultimate decision based upon recommendations of Choo & Dalman. Nothing really changes then.
I don’t think this a progressive move to be your manager tbh. I know I’d be disappointed if we made this move. I think he’d be a good DOF with a younger manager though.
I think he was just agreeing with you Bluey - I think most of us are in the same corner over this one.
IMO City cannot give Riza the job even if by an amazing change in performances City gain some points in the next 2 games. City desperately need a manager who has experience at this level - the relegation challenge is just too much for Riza. Possibly men like Mowbray and Rowett fit the bill. A fresh face to energise the players not only as a whole but individually as well is required. Yesterday witnessed some horror individual performances: I’m not picking on him but Ralls in particular was extraordinarily poor over 90 minutes; he has had his merits but sadly this season he has been badly shown up for his lack of pace, reliance on one foot, failure to make first time passes, an uncanny ability to misdirect simple passes, lack of goal threat etc. He wasn’t alone. Collins, Ng, Chambers struggled and made it too easy for Hull. Added to this was the clumsy way several attacking forays were wasted. City probably had more chances in one game than the previous 6 combined. Yet save a super strike by Robinson, a series of good openings came to nothing which surely other teams would have put away. It doesn’t bode well when there are rumours, surely mischievous, that the 2 consultants are Slade and McCarthy. As unlikely as that is, it would be typical if it was true, but whoever they are they need to find a manager who can get a tune out of these players, and PDQ as well before we’re marooned.
No disrespect to you Nin but: - Do you expect him to walk away and forget the £150m + he has in the club in one shape or form or another? Or do you know someone with that sort of cash sloshing around? Because unless there is someone who fits the second point that sentiment is meaningless. Regrettably we, the club, are locked into a situation where there is no easy solution.
