Said to my dad that players like O9 will not put up with bad attitudes on the dressing room so I have less worry about him joining the more I think about it. In fact I think it makes a lot of sense, this is a guy with the potential, knows the league, has scored goals at this level and presses well Could end up being a really smart piece of business tbh
I haven’t got a clue really. General consensus then and now seems to be the concern around his attitude. Hopefully he sorts that out and lays off the booze.
He needs to have something written into his contract, if it’s true about his behavior. He’s young enough to make amends, just hope he’s smart enough. He will have good characters around him so if he buckles down he could be a huge asset. Good luck to the lad.
And if he doesn’t, good bye to the lad, his choice. I would eat raw fish for the rest of my football career if I could play in front of crowds like Saturday.
Wouldn’t have any complaints about Connolly coming in. We’re short up top and he’s got championship experience. Probably a better option than Rusyn.
I don't think there's a probably about it tbh I don't mind rusyn coming off thr bench when the game is won but not sure he can change a game for us - connelly might be able too
Quotes from the lad here.. Championship side Sunderland poised to swoop for free agent Aaron Connolly and allow him to revive his career | Irish Independent
He talks about a new lifestyle and falling in with the wrong people. Here’s hoping. https://www.independent.ie/sport/so...llow-him-to-revive-his-career/a368441116.html
They're good quotes but unfortunately they're from a year ago so it seems he fell back into bad habits after that.
Has he though? Only reason he got released from hull was he didn’t quite get back on form after an injury
No doubt the club will have done a lot of work on his character and ambitions. This is probably the last chance he will have of really making something of his career, and maybe the penny as dropped with him. It could turn out to be a shrewd signing if he knuckles down and the club gives him a chance.
Most of the Hull fans mention his attitude and conduct issues whilst he was there this season just gone.
For anyone interested I did seek some Hull opinions here: https://not606.com/threads/and-in-other-football-news.395654/page-539#post-17861867 Mixed bag, most saying he's talented but that it's a risk. Basically the conclusion we'd mostly already come to anyway. Middlesborough are less complimentary but it's just a weird thread in general (mostly about xG) to be honest: https://fmttmboro.com/index.php?threads/aaron-connolly-to-sunderland.62192/
Yh don't think he performed too great at boro they really don't like him, but at hull I seen a lot wishing they didn't release him on socials but the injury and him coming back not in the best place didn't help. But if anyone needs a home to settle in and do well, we have offered that for a fair few now
Someone mentions on the Boro thread that Wilder basically played him as a target man so he never stood a chance there.
