To be fair to the lad, 8 goals in 1209 minutes last season is excellent. Different types of finishes as well.
I think it’s all to do with Abdullahi tbf they probably didn’t expect the surgery to sideline him so long or to even need it in the first place and I imagine RLB now sees Isidor as a wide player and doesn’t really rate rusyn. So he’s probably asked for some competition and backup for mayenda so we can have a like for like change up top

It could turn out to be shrewd but as suspected and said by many, Isidor is not an out and out 9 and the club 'failed' to a degree to address the 9 position for the 3rd if not 4th successive window.
They've got a lot right mind but my god a real 9 in our side now, imagine.
Mayenda is doing a great job, better than probably 80% of the strikers in the division.
If it's true we sign Connolly,I hope he's got his head together and doesn't disrupt the dressing room. RLB's psychology expertise will be needed with this lad. He's moved around a lot and hasn't really settled anywhere. Depending on any deal,it seems like it's low risk.....and he has scored goals in this league.
I don’t think Isidor is the problem; as without him for me the club would have been short on genuine quality options out wide, as Bennette and Ba aren’t it,
The problem was failing to get one of Orban, Mendy, Fofana, Bamba etc on deadline day
Don't kid myself? Only one striker has more goal contributions than him this season. He's also at the top end of ball recoveries for strikers in the division. He is a real striker and he's doing a great job.
100% agree. People see that he’s 19 and that they didn’t like him last season so he’s not allowed to be called a good and quality option.

He is! He's been one of many examples of marked improvement in players we've seen this season under this coaching regime.
Isidor can play there and do a good job, he can play all 3 positions he’s not a square peg in a round hole he can just do well in all of them.
We had multiple big bids turned down for Bamba also. Aaron Connolly scored 8 in 13 starts last season for Hull. I’m assuming if we paid money for him during the window that would have been “ambitious”
Big difference between Phil Smith and Copley for me. Smith is trusted with more of the heavy lifting in articles.

They have to do something. They don't have sufficient cover in a number 9 who has experience at a good level.
Wilson clearly is a wide forward and has been brought here to cover those positions. They don't rate Rusyn. So Mayenda definitely needs someone else.
It's a shame it's come to this level of exploding the free market though. They should have sorted it in the window but can not be arsed to go through that again.
Connelly isn't a bad player at all. His injury record and attitude worries me but if they feel they can get him to graft and really use this as an opportunity, I am not against it, for the reasons in my first paragraph.

You're right, he's not a problem and adds depth elsewhere, but there was a certain level of appeasement by a great number of people to label Isidor as an out and out 9 to suggest we'd addressed that position.
We failed as you mentioned to secure a 9, again, rightly or wrongly, whether Mayenda is doing a good job or not.
