Agreed. Not great at all with so much money from Clarke and absolute peanuts spent. Was a time to really have a look and show some intent. Top of the league and 35k season tickets holders.
At least 2 out of the 4 are robust, experienced players, who will add serious competition to the first 11.
We have a load of options in midfield now AA and Ba didn't depart. Hopefully the club turn their attention to January and add another 2/3 players with the JC money. Get them done early enough and you can avoid paying the silly season prices.
Out of interest… which first team players will at most risk with the new signings I assume they all were not happy to be just squad players.. I’m guessing some were brought in for first team duty..
I agree it is a failure to an extent, but we’ve obviously tried for a forward with more experience. In a market that sees Stanfield go for what he has(I wouldn’t have wanted him for that amount), it’s a gamble that could easily lead to another Grigg situation which the current owners obviously aren’t prepared to take and rightly so imo.
You make it sound like he was brought in as a full back ... ... he reckons he's a striker, one of you is wrong.
He has played wide left lots. Many safc fans wanted the club to show some ambition and sign a striker who is experienced that we own. We have waited 3 years for this. Instead we have a loan player, who can play there and also plays on the left. With a young player who has 57 seconds of senior experience to his name. This is what many were worried about and what we have done in the past with the likes of Hemir and Burstow. With the sale of Clarke and the funds received, it's absolutely fair to say the club should have delivered a more experienced number 9 who safc own.
Yup. I’d love to know what is stopping the us from signing an experienced striker. It can’t just be money
This is going to be unpopular but I’m happy with our transfer buisness. Experience down the spine which is what we all asked, two highly rated young additions with no real rush to throw them into the deep end, a 24 year old striker who’s scored goals in another country that we can hope can transition into this country and if you told me at the start of the season we’d only loose Clarke out of our top players I wouldn’t of believed you. kept quiet about it on here last night but I really wasn’t understanding the clamour for wanting to sign another “first team ready” striker, that would only half the development of Mayenda. obviously I wouldn’t of said nah like if it happened, but why develop someone else’s player (fofana) when we have our own in Mayenda who has shown something so far this season?
Because history has shown they dont and the 9 has been out Achilles heel for 3 years. Here we are again. Still hoping instead of looking at something and thinking we have stepped up in the market. It's a familiar story and one that we shouldn't be reading.
Every single player we have signed on loan or a permanent for 3 years, in the striker position has not been up to the immediate standard.
Anyway, ifs done. We did get the 4 and 2 are immediate first team challenges, which is great. Silly me, though, I really thought we would sort the 9, but alas it's once again, a disappointment. Anyway, onto todays game!
