He’s absolutely nowhere near that level but it’s the role he has fulfilled successfully for Hamburg. I can’t say I’ve seen much of him other than online clips but basing my comments on that and also comments made by people who have seen him play extensively.

As far as I can see from what has been posted by Hamburg on Twitter from their managers press conference, he hasn’t mentioned Meffert at all. …let’s see if Walter says anything (or winks).
Meffert is your typical holding midfielder. Won’t do anything pretty will just keep us ticking but will do the dirty work primarily. Smallwood esque you’d think, which by our fan bases standards will mean he’s one to be scapegoated
