Aye he’s the one who I want. Much more than Mendy. 6 million for a 20year old is better than 3 for a thirty year old and height, movement, finishing all look like the Stewart replacement we’ve needed.
He even runs like Stewart with the ball. It is striking the similarities. Coming from Red Bull the pressing side of the game will already be second nature to him.
Just seen the fee for Merino going to Arsenal is just over £30m. That is cheap, even with his age. I think he is a wonderful footballer and will fit in so well there. It is the sort of deal that in my opinion makes them favourite for the league.
I’m doing everything I can to not be excited by Simic. He seems too unlikely, too high a level. Would go down as our best signing for ages.
Simic seems to be an ambitious target, but it’s good we’re seemingly going for that type. Praying it comes off but I reckon he’s just about out of our reach. Hopefully not though.
The main encouraging thing with Simic is that unless I’ve missed it; the two local sources that linked him to us, haven’t since linked him somewhere else. And that link to us obviously came from his end.
I I know it’s Keith but the fact he’s reported it as advanced talks makes me confident. He would be all over it like a fly on **** if it had fell through anarl
Really hope the Simic deal gets over the line. Our project has to be appealing to young players, and it helps being top of the league curre try so in pole position to offer Premier League football within a year if he helps us push on. Having said that, Bundesliga interest will be difficult to overcome, and he does seem slightly above our level currently. Immense signing if we can pull it off.
Quality player, he’s improved a hell of a lot since he was last over here I still fancy Arsenal to win the league.
Massive fan of Merino. To be that tall and rakey but have that control is mental. He be great for them.
I was talking to my best mate last night who’s a mag and we were talking about the gulf between the champ and PL. I was talking about the step up in full backs especially that Clarke will be facing because at this level they seem to be very hitty miss and can normally either defend or attack, but never both. Full backs in the PL all seem great defensively, fast, strong etc. One of the things I got onto is the physicality and I mentioned Arsenal. Not only are they arguably playing the best football in the league but their squad is filled with monsters. They can do absolutely everything and they’ve had a few disappointing seasons in Europe and the domestic cups imo. It’s all good pushing City all the way in the league but if you’re going to end the season without a trophy it’s meaningless. Saliba 6’4, Gabriel 6’4, Rice 6’2, Havertz 6’3, White 6’1. Soon to have Calafiori in there at 6’3. Imagine us trying to defend set pieces against that?
