My son is out on the drink in Newcastle. Patto, Moore, Neil and Hume are out. Spoke to Neil and he reckons the club feels totally different and we have a real chance this season. He didn't realise he was on a booking yesterday
I was sent a link to a YouTube thing called 'The Full Time Show' which is a real shocker tbh. (It has little to do with yesterday's match so don't watch it for the football.) Anyone thinking Sunderland should get up to the PL, by any means, and celebrate the parachute money if we're relegated should watch it. The Burnley fans are absolutely hysterical about what's going on. It seems they've had to sell, for some reason, sixteen players and more with follow. There's talk of financial problems, debts on interest shooting up, players refusing to play for the club, etc. Being a yo-yo club might seem like a shortcut to riches but Norwich were the yo-yo kings and their crown has truly slipped.
It did look a lot like he booked Jobe first like so I’m not surprised. ****e of the ref to not make him fully aware.
Eh? I think this makes the sending off worse! He didn't realise the ref booked him in the first half, he was looking right at him wasn't he? If this is true there will now be a half time announcement of who is on a booking. His reaction to the 2nd booking said he knew to me like!
I was sat in the west stand mind and from my viewing their I thought it was Jobe he booked for the challenge, because of the way he brandished the card. I was very uncertain bur as soon as I seen him make the challenge that inevitably sent him off I sort of knew really before he even pulled the card out his pocket.
Genuinely don’t see him do anything at top half PL level other than crashing the box. He’ll probably do well enough in Italy if he can continue to do that though.
Aye I was taking to a few of their fans before the match and they seemed resigned to having to sell more players. That to me suggests bad financial management. Quick check and they spent ~£90m on transfers last season, and only received ~£3m on player sales. That's not sustainable and they basically went all out to stay in the league knowing they weren't prepared. How many of those players would have demanded ridiculous salaries just to sign for them? The fact we absolutely played them off the park in parts of the games against them shows they weren't ready. I honestly think we are in a much better position squad wise and there's no way we would go on a spending spree like that. It screams desperation. Worth mentioning they also borrowed heavily from MSD a couple of seasons before relegation and I think it had to be paid back the season they were relegated in full due a clause in the agreement. That must have put a massive dent in the bank balance. They've also spent over £30m this season so it's no surprise they need to sell.
I watched a bit more of Isidor last night, he was a speedy winger as a youngster, it seems. Certainly for the younger French teams.
It seems even players we get in who struggle, get coached well and polished into a diamond. The club seem to have a nack of spotting potential now and nurturing it. Bodes well for when we get promoted this season
Yeah it’s a weird one as he’s ended up a CF but had a decent season on the wing at Zenit. But could defo suit our system upfront I reckon
Quite right mate. What's even more praiseworthy is that they must be doing serious background checks on these lads. They're coming from various clubs and countries but haven't caused the club any concern as far as I can see. Of course some won't quite make it but, compared to many other clubs, our success rate is phenomenal.
