Ditto 'Meghan' Markle...Don’t know why anyone mentions immigration. It is not a concern and nobody is bothered about it.

That article is a bit like having an article that states that a bus or train produces more emissions than a car. It's true, but it's not the whole picture - showing the amount of energy produced per unit of emissions, or emissions produced per average end user and then comparing the power stations would be a better comparison, but probably not an interesting article.
It's the Guardian, isn't it. So the average user is going to be reading it specifically for environmental concern articles, so the editor commissions something that will encourage readers to read it. Same reason that the Daily Mail incessantly posts about immigration and Megan Markle.
Ah the old never mind the story look at where it's published, it's the Guardian, it's the Daily Mail, it's GB News, even it's the BBC.
I agree the main Drax produces more emissions that the coal plant lacks details but it is an opening for readers to go and find out more, and question what is going on. It mentions the amount of subsidies, wood chip from North America, further subsidies for capturing the carbon they emit by burning the wood.
But alternatively it's in the Guardian, nothing to see here move along.

It's a fair point in this case, as though it's true that Drax generates four times the emissions, it generates over eleven times the power, so it's still far more efficient.
Though the whole set-up at Drax still seems really dodgy.
People on here celebrating the re-opening of an airport. They should be shutting them down as a sign of our commitment to net zero and saving the planet. People should be restricted to one return flight a year.
I am sure all those who go on about the need for us to take the lead and show the world the way forward will agree.
How did you manage during covid? Not a chance, it would be impossible to do my job, I've so far this year taken 11 trips which has totalled 25 flights, all long haul bar 2 internal flights.... I do use paper straws though so it's all cancelled out

How did you manage during covid?
The only reason I'm asking this, is my Eldest Daughter's a Civil Servant who has to travel to London on frequent occasions(by flight, sometimes train).During covid they switched to 'Zoom' meetings which appeared to be as effective?
Don't get me wrong, they're back to their face to face 'jollies' but in reality that long period of lockdowns proved they aren't strictly necessary.

and thought show us your working out
Name names."Elderly people often do not perceive thirst, so we should keep an extra eye on them"
Someone should inform the pensionist beer monsters on here...
Now they are claiming 50,000 deaths across Europe due to the heat.
The last three years have been really high, last year there were 47,000 deaths attributed to the heat in Europe, the year before was 61,000.
It was covid heat as wellYou need to look in to how those figures are generated before accepting them at face value. Many of the figures churned out for a variety of topics, even from official bodies would not be up to a standard that would pass an O level.
