No, but some fly a lot and have flash cars and boats. Good luck to them. Unlike you I am not envious of anyone who has done well for themselves. Though you will be pleased to hear I don’t put them on a pedestal.
I agree, their enjoyment is everything. After all, they were born a long time before my children, so have earned the right to destroy the planet in any way they like.
Given the figures below are for all the millions of plane flights how much do you think the relatively few private jets contribute? Fashion causes more pollution. Global aviation (including domestic and international; passenger and freight) accounts for: 1.9% of greenhouse gas emissions (which includes all greenhouse gases, not only CO2) 2.5% of CO2 emissions 3.5% of ‘effective radiative forcing’ – a closer measure of its impact on warming.
Their unnecessary pleasure flights produce as much pollution as Denmark annually. Is it really OK to fly privately from Turkey to LA to watch a single sporting event? For me, it's not. And it's certainly not for my children's sake.
Whnnot condemn China which has built 52 airports with another 25 under construction in the time we have been discussing building one runway? They are also building 58 new coal fired power stations. I am sure that has more effect on things. Maybe they would shut them down if you had a word..
That's still: 950,000,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases and 875,000,000 tonnes of CO2 coming from aircraft. The fact that the percentages are small in no way plays down the impact it has on climate change. Private jets probably don't contribute much compared to those figures, but anything that reduces the overall figure is going to be positive.
