Cant help but think why we never came in for him. He can play LB aswell.
So far zero money spent. Its a big concern

They brought in two 19-year-olds and a 20-year-old with hardly any first team experience Between them and hoped they would score the goals in a very tough mens league? Very poorNo they (and you know this, you are just being obtuse) decided to invest in youth, believing that the young players they brought in would be able to score the goals required to get us promoted. They were wrong. There is no shame in that. They recognise that and are taking steps to rectify. I fail to see the negative in any of this.
There are players that age who could do it but we didn’t sign them. It’s mostly about quality for me but definitely experience, Hemir particularly. Mistake on Rusyn also I think, short of a few things, pace and physical strength being the two significant but also his touch doesn’t take him anywhere meaningful. Feels like we’re trying to get a Stewart like magic deal but we need surety among the gambles. They brought in two 19-year-olds and a 20-year-old with hardly any first team experience Between them and hoped they would score the goals in a very tough mens league? Id prefer Mendy to Ugbo anyway, Ugbo doesn’t press like RLB wants us toWould Ugbo even work with how we play? Probably not.
I’m personally quite serene with the striker situation.
Don’t get me wrong I’ll be far happier when we get one in, and Mendy seems a savvy move, but I’m actually quite fascinated by Mayenda.
Even if he takes a little while to find feet and score, the lad is absolutely rapid and we haven’t had that in a forward since maybe Cisse.
That stretches the game and opens up space if we can get him making decoy runs, tie in with Paddy looking very decent in pre-season and there’s a bit there.
Mayenda
Jacky- AA - Paddy
It’s such an unpredictable front 4. But one I think could stretch teams all over the place and out of shape.
The most predictable is Jacky, but he is unstoppable whilst being so, on his game.
Nobody in the league has much better than Browne & Dan backing that up.
Totally with you on this.Would Ugbo even work with how we play? Probably not.

And still 3.5 weeks to go, not quite squeaky bum time yet!Would Ugbo even work with how we play? Probably not.

It's defo close haha, would like to have a striker at least get a game in augustAnd still 3.5 weeks to go, not quite squeaky bum time yet!

I mean I’m not sitting as comfortably as I was a week ago haha, still plenty time but aye going the first month without one isn’t ideal, unless mayenda starts firingIt's defo close haha, would like to have a striker at least get a game in august![]()
To be honest I wanted a striker in by Sunday. And still 3.5 weeks to go, not quite squeaky bum time yet!
Depends who we sign really. If we got Stansfield (for example) then you assume he'd be ready to go the next day. Someone like mendy who hasn't played a game of football in 3 months will take longer. To be honest I wanted a striker in by Sunday.
if it takes them a couple weeks to get up to speed, physically and tactically then that would have them end of August. If it goes right to the end of the month we could be mid September / Early October without a striker
Fair point mate, we’re getting to the stage we’re deals start to ramp up so hopefully not long to wait nowTo be honest I wanted a striker in by Sunday.

What have Lazio got against us? Every transfer window they're trying to take one of our players...https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...rther-away-from-potential-summer-exit-4732097
Sunderland have reportedly fended off interest in Jobe Bellingham from Serie A side Lazio....
The teenager has been linked with several prospective suitors in recent weeks, including Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, but it is Marco Baroni’s side who have emerged as shock admirers of late.
Last month, Il Messaggero, as relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, suggested that Lazio had made initial contact with Sunderland to enquire about Bellingham’s availability after a move for ex-Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood collapsed.
At the time, the Rome club were reportedly told that the Black Cats value the 18-year-old at around £12.9 million, and that price tag is now substantiated further by Corriere della Sera.
According to the Italian outlet, Lazio were informed of Bellingham’s asking price, and have since been waiting for Sunderland to lower their demands before pursuing a concrete approach for the midfielder. Since the Black Cats have held firm, however, it is understood that their continental counterparts are ready to quell their interest, with the player moving ‘further and further away’ from a transfer.
As far back as early June, reports have claimed that Sunderland intend to hang on to Bellingham during the current transfer window. In an update addressing apparent interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford, and the aforementioned Palace, The Guardian suggested that the Black Cats are ‘determined not to sell’, as well as stating that Bellingham’s actual valuation may lie closer to the £20 million mark in the estimation of club chiefs.
He could score 10 in 10 games and he'd still need some assistance given his age and lack of experience. So, say Mayenda scores on Saturday. Would we still say is ‘too young, too raw’.
No dispute we need a striker but some of the best careers got a jump start out of necessity.
