You're suggesting players or agents would check fans on social media before deciding on signing rather than signings failing due to the people actually offering the contracts. Seems an odd angle.
There are quite a few clubs in our current position in fairness. West Brom are having a fire sale now. Watford have signed 1 first team player Pompey haven’t signed anyone. Blackburn are a mess. Plymouth are a mess. Swansea still need to do a lot of business. The market seems to just be incredibly slow this season, our transfer policy isn’t helping with that but I think the market is just adjusting to how it was pre covid.
Ah for some reason I get loads of Pompey notifications on my twitter feed and they seem to be complaining alot about lack of action
Think they've actually brought in more than 6, that's just permanents, I know they got Silvera on loan from Boro too, because down here there's a lot of gushing about the fact they brought in Farrell from the A-league plus Silvera so stocking up on Aussies.
The same people critical of lack of signings are the same who are now retrospectively criticising the January signings as contributing to our FFP challenges. In truth, we were probably spoilt last season with marquee signings like Philogene and Carvalho (did anyone really expect we'd get those two at the start of last season?). Those expectation levels have been set with the fanbase, hence the disappointment with where we are today. However FFP is a real thing, and therefore brinkmanship (not overpaying for players when you have a limited budget) also comes into play and is in all likelihood the underlying reason why the Brain Teams plan has fallen behind thus far.
I don't know what agents/players know about clubs they might be linked with but I'm sure they do some research. A lot of what's been posted on here seems to have it's origins on social media, tiktok, fb, turkish social media etc so it'd be unsurprising if word didn't get around. And that word could be along the lines of 'forget Hull City, complete car crash'.
Why are Plymouth a mess? look decent signings there Nathanael Ogbeta - Swansea, free Ibrahim Cissoko - Toulouse, loan Darko Gyabi - Leeds, loan Muhamed Tijani - Slavia Prague, loan Victor Palsson - KAS Eupen, free Who was that winger for them who tore us a new one in the last game of the season? Where’s he gone??
No one is saying we need to be signing Carvalho's level of player, people are just critical we're going into the season with no fit strikers or wingers in the squad. Think that's reasonably straight forward. As a separate criticism, going for such short term signings in January was very clearly moronic.
I know perfectly well what it means and your response had absolutely **** all to do with what I posted.
Yes, a car crash caused by the owner not by the supporters. You can't seriously be saying that players judge a club on supporters getting upset at a lack of signings.
Reuben Swann - AFC Sudbury, undisclosed Jordan Archer - QPR, free Josh Murphy - Oxford, free Jordan Williams - Barnsley, free Samuel Sivera - Middlesbrough, loan Elias Sorensen - Esbjerg, undisclosed Jacob Farrell - Central Coast Mariners, undisclosed
They need players and Rooney has already said they won’t sign til after the first game. In a mess like us is how id describe it
Apart from those I’ve mentioned who they’ve just signed ? And you said they’ve not signed anyone so who was that winger wing back against us??
Don’t think Blackburn fans think it is a car crash. They have sold over 20,000 season tickets compared to our 16,000 which some people got very excited about.
Bali Mumba? He’s still there. So is their other talented winger Morgan Whittaker. I think most of us said we’d prefer Philogene and Greaves to be sold early in the window to allow us to get replacements in early too. Glad that worked out.
And again, the string is pulled from the dolls back, and the same recording gets played back. Why the **** do I keep pulling the string? I'm going to put myself on mute for a few days. Well done Syd. Argument won through weariness.
