I know perfectly well what it means and your response had absolutely **** all to do with what I posted.

Really? You're claiming players will scroll this forum and claim they will choose not to sign for us because of us. Paying fans...

How does me questioning you blaming paying fans instead of the rich owner not follow the conversation logically? What's non-sequitur?

Bali Mumba? He’s still there. So is their other talented winger Morgan Whittaker.

I think most of us said we’d prefer Philogene and Greaves to be sold early in the window to allow us to get replacements in early too. Glad that worked out.
Ye it was mumba
I asked in the match thread and you told me then too <laugh>
Ye he was excellent

Wow 100 pages behind now, enjoying vacation for last 5 days. Any new transfer news beside Mehlem which was kind of confirmed before I leave?

The same people critical of lack of signings are the same who are now retrospectively criticising the January signings as contributing to our FFP challenges.

In truth, we were probably spoilt last season with marquee signings like Philogene and Carvalho (did anyone really expect we'd get those two at the start of last season?). Those expectation levels have been set with the fanbase, hence the disappointment with where we are today.

However FFP is a real thing, and therefore brinkmanship (not overpaying for players when you have a limited budget) also comes into play and is in all likelihood the underlying reason why the Brain Teams plan has fallen behind thus far.

We’re way past that now, this isn’t a FFP issue, the season starts in less than a week and we’ve not yet got a squad. However you try and spin it, it’s a complete mess and one of our making.

The goodwill that Acun has banked for his efforts improving the club off the field is dissipating due to the playing squad being ran into the ground whilst he ****s off to his next vanity project.

But it's quite clear that Acun has passed those duties on to the staff he employs, I think he even said as much early in the summer which is fine and plenty of people even said that it's a good thing at the time.

Perhaps they're not as persuasive as Acun but who knows, I think part of the delay in transfers is a result of past mistakes and not wanting to repeat them, they also seem to be trying to get the best deals possible which is usually a good thing. I just think they've been naive in how long it could drag on and expect to be a few signings further on than we are, frustrating that we are still having to learn lessons but there are upsides to our recruitment team, especially regarding the profile of players they target.

Regarding Acun potentially selling up, he may or may not. Could be sounding out potential for the future if he fails this season or next season but regardless, I don't see anything in the club's actions that suggests we won't get to a point where we're competitive.

I think it speaks volumes when supporters like yourself who were very much in the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ camp a few weeks ago are now rightfully concerned at the state of things. This isn’t me saying ‘I told you so’ as I was fully hoping you were all right that we’d have a competitive squad by next Saturday and I was just ‘bed-wetting’.

I still think we’ll sign players and will have a half decent squad by the end of the window, but having not signed barely anyone ahead of the season actually starting is inexcusable.

I said on the podcast with the THAB lads that I'm sure by Deadline Day we will sign a bunch of players because if nothing else Acun loves a good Deadline Day, but as you say, to not have more in the building before the season starts is pretty awful.

Particularly as we have winnable games at the start of the season. To disadvantage ourselves like this is poor.

With a full squad you imagine it will take 3 or 4 weeks in the training ground to get a good grip of Walters system. We’ll probably be 8 games in before we start to see the best of what we have.

And then you run the risk of having players who might not have had a full preseason
And certainly not our preseason
Making it more difficult for Walter to instil the way of playing into them
And more risk of injuries of players not fully up to speed.
Basically it’s now a **** show

Good, fair post on where we’re at right now. I think if there’s a lack of action in this week leading up to Bristol, I will have a different, suspicious mindset. We’ll see what happens.
