There's a fundamental truth being missed here. No one is asking that this man be denied his basic human rights. But it's not a vital part of his existence for him to box against women. He could live a perfectly wonderful life, and enjoy any sport he chooses, without ever competing against women ever again. However, the women being asked to go into the ring with him have absolutely no choice ... ... other than to refuse to fight him and deny themselves their place in the Olympics through no fault of their own. If he's so desperate to box he should turn professional where anyone can choose whether or not to step into a ring with him. A gold medal for this man might be within the bounds of exhaustive chemical analysis and physical examination ... ... but the death of common sense and reason.
I actually think in this specific example it is genuinely more complicated, I understand this person is intersex, meaning they were born with a condition that gives them a complicated hormone profile. With Trans boxers, let's say a person born male who transitions to a female and fights other females, yes I agree it's categorically unfair. In this example though the person is born with a hormone profile that makes them, truly, neither fully man or woman. Usually these people are infertile, I'd be curious to know if that is the case in this example.
Just read that he/she has previously lost 9 times to other female boxers, so obviously not the overpowering force that maybe being portrayed here. Interesting that there's no international boxing association involved in the Olympics, it's all overseen by IOC. Do the boxing authorities suspect something?
Great chance of another later in the women's BMX race, kicks off about ten to nine with the semifinals taking place before. Feels like it's been a really good games for medals and golds especially. Raking them in.
Apart from the fact she's **** hot at what she does, one of her secrets to success seems to be that she feels no pressure whatsoever, as relaxed as if she was dicking about at the park with her mates. Remarkable mentality.
Think she got blocked off by the others preventing the fast start, maybe should have mixed up her tactics. Gutted about that.
Might have been best off picking one of the lanes at either side, oh well. It's one of those events where anything can happen on the day I suppose.
I thought he held them on the start a fraction too long and she missed the start, compared to how she has started in all the other races. It’s the same for all of them so that’s the way it goes. Disappointing!
