And there's the problem in a nutshell.

We're not only competing with 'parachute clubs' ...

... there's also clubs who'll risk financial irregularities to get to the PL.

Sadly they'll probably be battered, most weeks, and come straight back down.

It's all a bit daft tbh.

I keep banging on about it but this is why we need to raise funds. We are never going to be in the market for these types of players in our current situation.

£5m for a player with 1 year remaining on his contract and is training with the u21s. Mental.

You’re bang on, don’t want lose any of our stars but it’s needed to kick on really, 3 £5m signings can transform a side at this level

The more I think about it the more I don't get why we aren't in for Conway, especially if it's not the £5m originally reported and more like £3m with add ons. Obviously we could be but it seems likely he's off to Boro where he won't even be the starting striker. According to Fishpaste we offered £2.5m for a forward earlier this summer so I see no reason for us not to be in for Conway, wouldn't need to sell anyone to fund it either. 21, massive resale value, 2 full seasons of Championship football, fits the play style. Go and offer him the starting striker spot.

Makes no sense to me, I'm starting to worry the longer this goes on. If boro manage to sign two strikers before we have even signed one that is insane

we may well be of course. We seem to do things quietly so no reason to think we aren’t in for him. Equally no reason to think we are.

Yeah I do get that part, usually though these leaks come from the selling club or player's side. Just seems far too quiet on the striker front bar mendy. The longer it takes the more I'm thinking what is actually going on and are we working on deals?

of course we are working on deals. Maybe I’m just relaxed as I’m on holiday. We all know why Mendy MIGHT be held up and for all we know there’s others where that came from. No need to panic just yet.

We've heard of no other offers for anyone other than mendy, so is there? that's my worry

like wise, well apart from the holiday part,
we are going about our business quietly which is refreshing. instead of letting other clubs know our plans and trying to hijack the deal for themselves,
im sure we will get something in soon,

we either are, or we aren't working on many cf deals at all
