Especially if there are a few big sides interested. If we get a big offer then we may as well let him go and reinvest that in a striker.
I still think he is too good a talent to let go! He can definitely learn our system and - crucially- play on the half turn so we have another outlet!
Yeah we have tied ourselves to Martin rather than Alcaraz. Hopefully it’s the right call to back Martin over probably our most talented player
Confused as to what he has done to warrant being considered our most talented player? He has potential, sure, but he very far from our best player.
The account’s will, the big boss Solak says we will. Until harsher punishments come in clubs will always take the piss. Everton now signing the lad from Hull etc when they look like they will get another SMALL points deduction this season. Or better still, scrap the FFP. Ruins fair competition and is just set up for the top 6/7 teams.
Just think he has that “it” factor or whatever you want to call it. But then I think the same about Sulemana and would have him right up there in terms of talent in our squad so maybe I’m just weird
They're into a new financial year now though. For their current three-year cycle, 2021-22 has dropped off - and hence whatever losses they made that year are now irrelevant for PSR purposes. Their first PSR breach was for the cumulative period up to 2021-22. Their second PSR breach was for the cumulative period up to 2022-23. But for the upcoming 2024-25 season, the years in question are 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. It will likely be many months until their financial results will be released for 2023-24, but presumably they'll look much healthier than in previous years. Meanwhile 2024-25 is only nine days old, and hence is something of a clean slate when it comes to transfer dealings (beyond whatever amortised purchase costs they may still be carrying forward). Assuming that they did get their house in order during the course of 2023-24, then the ability to replace 2021-22 with 2024-25 for their current three-year cycle I imagine provides them with far greater headroom now. Whereas sides like us are punished. Keep within the PSR limits, get relegated, and find ourselves now with a reduced loss-allowance due to spending one of the previous two years outside of the PL - even though, as a newly promoted club, we arguably need greater leeway when it comes to trying to improve our squad.
and given the minimal points deductions and low points tally for survival last season. It's got to be pretty tempting to break the rules a lil bit.
wtf has he done to be worth £20m. I just don't get it. Really hope our name is in there just because we've been interested in previous years. £20m would be a big chunk of our transfer budget on someone who is yet to even show that they stand out at Championship level.
