Must admit I didn't get the hype but Hull fans rave about him so he must have something about him. We have scouted him for years too and bid for him under Wilcox. I can't help but feel we will regret not signing him.

It's also not great that we are losing out on targets to Ipswich!

Our scouting system currently appears to be based on old Saints DVDs. Ipswich's scouting system currently appears to be based on their 3-3 draw vs Hull from three months ago.

Saints trying to resign Ely will be the next rumour, although that would indicate they aren’t watching previous Saints games

Whilst it might be “phew” about signing Delap because some people don’t rate him, the club clearly did so for him to choose Ipswich over us isn’t a particularly encouraging sign
Yeah but we don't know the reasons why. It could be assurances over game time or just a gut feeling from Delap.

I think it’s more that we straight up don’t seem to have the money. Not that we are concerned about how it appears in the books from an FFP perspective
There is no evidence for this at all. We had a bid for Delap accepted of 15mill up front.

This was in reply to a 30m player not a 15m one. And it’s not going to have been 15m up front and out the bank this summer because no deals are done like that. 15m would be guaranteed in instalments and the 5m would be clause related

And we’ve somehow lost out to the only team who have at least an equal if not more likely chance than us of going back down again. We will never know the reasons why but hopefully isn’t financial

Stop fear-mongering for f***'s sake. None of us know anything so let's cut the bullsh*t negative speculation.

Maybe we didn't want to match Ipswich's salary, because they regard him as a first teamer starter, whereas we want him 'for the future', or perhaps we have other targets in mind who we would prefer to spend more on.

Or it could be a million other reasons. Maybe he just loves the Suffolk coastline. And Ed Sheeran.

Until the window closes, let's be chill.

From my perspective this has been a promising window so far, the main problem last season was the defence and we have brought in reinforcements with some very smart business and I believe that there is money in the coffers to improve the midfield and attack but maybe we need to shift a couple of players that are not in the fold first to help to fund it.
