It could also be seen as a positive sign to the new manager, if it was true that he was waiting to see who the new manager was before he signed? Must have impressed him with his initial thoughts/ideas.A huge pat on the back to the club for getting this done given the rumoured interest from elsewhere and the money being offered.
A big sign that things are good at the club! Buzzing
Great to see that it looks like Rigg will sign a new contract, however, I'm slightly concerned that it's only 3 yrs. I assume that the 3 yr bit is down to Rigg, as I'm sure the club would want him on a longer contract. Am I right in thinking Jobe did something similar at Birmingham, and then signed for us the following year. Is it their way of saying 'thanks' to the club for initially supporting them, that they won't leave for peanuts, but they know next year they'll be away, and at least the club gets some financial reward? I hope I'm wrong but I feel we'll only get 1yr out of him before he moves on.
They are obsessed with the fact he supports them, completely forgetting we have a rich history of geordies playing for us and being fully accepted as long as their support for them is left at the door. The mags are really wound up by Rigg signing his pro deal. They're at lengths to either say he's ****e and wouldn't get into their academy OR that they'll sign him whenever they want (even though he's ****e) etc![]()
I would really like us to take a risk on Langstaff. He’s a natural goalscorer the league is irrelevant. I think he’s one of those that’ll just score and score no matter the league. To be able to sign a striker that has a load of goals to his name is what we need this summer
I don’t know enough about him but league’s do make a difference. Every step up there is a step up in the quality of defenders. Some forwards can cope and some can’tI would really like us to take a risk on Langstaff. He’s a natural goalscorer the league is irrelevant. A certain Kevin Phillips was in the same boat, look how that turned out.I would really like us to take a risk on Langstaff. He’s a natural goalscorer the league is irrelevant. …couldn’t disagree more there. The league definitely matters. All well and good banging them in at L2 level and below. The amount of goals he has scored show he’s a natural goalscorer imo.…couldn’t disagree more there. The league definitely matters. All well and good banging them in at L2 level and below. Championship is completely different.
He may well be but I highly doubt the club will be going after a 27 y/o who hasn’t scored above L2 level. The amount of goals he has scored show he’s a natural goalscorer imo.
28 in 39 - 21/22 in NL/S
42 in 47 - 22/23 in NL
28 in 46 - 23/24 in L2
Say we sign on 3 year contract plus option he’ll be 30 by time to sell. Only going down in resale value and we’d be buying at peak. Doesn’t make financial sense if there are alternatives out there. He may well be but I highly doubt the club will be going after a 27 y/o who hasn’t scored above L2 level.

I don’t think he’s worth the risk personally. It’s a huge jump to the championship from where he’s been previously.Say we sign on 3 year contract plus option he’ll be 30 by time to sell. Are you against looking in league one for a striker by any chance?I don’t think he’s worth the risk personally. It’s a huge jump to the championship from where he’s been previously.
