Lardy why have you locked the “General election” thread ?? - in case it sways the way we vote <doh>

Exactly.
Have to do these things properly :police:

Anybody wishing to post a picture of their dog at a polling station can do so straight after 10pm <ok>

I think most of us have decided which way we vote by now :emoticon-0148-yes: The wee man will probably post a picture of his dog - I have several of them already <laugh>

The Paris Olympics is over! :1980_boogie_down:
  • Good news that terrorists did not do anything further after sabotaging the trains just before it began.
  • Good news that Team GB won a hatful of medals - testament to their dedication to their sport.
But I'm glad the wall-to-wall, rather over-enthusiastic coverage by about a hundred pundits and commentators for about 12 hours every day on the BBC has finally come to an end. Not to mention the radio coverage as well.
Feels like the Beeb spent more money covering the Games than the Government spent supporting the athletes we sent there.

Now I've only got the Proms to put up with for the next month <doh>

I love the Olympics and the BBC Proms. In fact I got tickets to see one of the Proms. It was the music of the genius that was Nick Drake played by the London Symphony Orchestra and assorted musicians. I bought a box for the evening and it was a magical night in front of a packed audience. I have also been to the last night of the Proms and it is something I will never forget. I have never felt so proud and patriotic.
I don't like all the events in the Olympics but we should be proud that a small nation like ours has won so many medals.

Last night - fair enough.
It's the other 80 odd nights I could do without.
Give me some Mozart, Holst, Wagner and Elgar and I'm happy. And a Strauss waltz maybe.

I'm a bit mystified about some people not being happy that GB 'only' won 14 Gold medals this time around.
To win a medal at all is a remarkable achievement, especially with the Chinese being doped up to the eyeballs (everybody knows it).
Well done to all our athletes who won Gold, Silver or Bronze <applause>
