The only information I have had through the door is from labour, not a thing from any other party.

I appreciate where I live is traditionally a labour stronghold, but to not even make an effort is poor imo
You will mate, post office send them out in fazes, the postmen have 3 days to post each lot, so they are not given them at the same time

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but ...

... if you need a scrap of paper through your door, to decide on who should govern you for the next five years ...

... you shouldn't be allowed to vote <laugh>
but unless any of the 7 who want to be my mp provide a leaflet , how can I vote ? I haven’t heard of any of them , don’t know a thing about them . No posters in windows , no one mentioning any evidence of canvassing

You have it the wrong way round in my opinion.

If you decide who to vote for, before any information on what they will do, you shouldnt be allowed to vote.

This idea that anybody but the incumbents is better is how we have lurched from tory incompetence, to labour incompetence and on and on. Until, as an electorate, we debate policy not (un)popularity we will continue to willing elect those in politics for entirely the wrong reasons. Blair to Johnson, the difference is minimal and history will record it as so. Lets demand better, for our kids sake if nothing else.

Sorry mate, it was just a daft comment about how flimsy the whole election system is ...

... which you're actually quite right about.

Obviously doesn't compute, just ignore me.

The Tory manifesto before the last election was an absolute sea of lies.

I used to do presiding officer on elections and it is unbelievable how undecided some people are. One lady took the offered voting slip, halted half way to the voting cubicle with her hand to her mouth. ‘I dont know who to vote for”, this after months of tv hustings and political broadcasts.”Well…. we are due for a change I suppose…. “. And people like this have the vote!

Moaning? Bit of a understatement that marra <laugh>
The daily unhinged outbursts on this thread about ‘Brexit’ ‘Boris Johnson’ ‘Tories’ and ‘Rishi Sunak’ will be ringing in my ears well after I’ve left this forum <laugh>

Interesting article on Starmer

https://www.timesofisrael.com/uk-labour-leader-starmer-opens-up-about-his-familys-jewish-traditions/

UK Labour leader Starmer opens up about his family’s Jewish traditions
Opposition leader says his children are being raised ‘to recognize the faith’ of their grandfather’s family; wants to ‘make up for lost ground’ between party and Jewish community.

In an interview for the Limmud Jewish learning festival in the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, spoke about expected political topics, such as the party’s actions on stamping out anti-Semitism in the wake of Jeremy Corbyn’s controversial tenure as leader.

But Starmer also opened up on a topic he hasn’t shared much about: how he and his Jewish wife are raising his children to recognize their Jewish faith.

Starmer, who succeeded Jeremy Corbyn earlier this year, said Monday that he was “brought up Church of England, loosely, and my wife’s family are Jewish, they came out from Poland.”

Starmer, 58, and his wife, attorney Victoria Alexander, have two children, whom they are “bringing up to recognize the faith of part of their grandfather’s family, and it’s very important,” he said. “Just carving out that tradition, that bit of faith on Friday is incredibly important, because we get together and we do Zoom prayers now.”

The family belong to London’s Liberal Jewish Synagogue, which is situated in the St. John’s Wood neighborhood and belongs to the Liberal movement, the more progressive of British Jewry’s two liberal strains, which includes Reform. Starmer has hinted before that Alexander’s family comes over for Friday night dinners at their London house.
