With all the noise around Giles, I get the feeling he doesn't want to sign for us. It should have been the easiest deal we'd complete this window but for whatever reasons it's dragging on and on.

I don't get the whole we buy and sell to Middlesbrough idea. If he wants to sign for someone else he just rejects our contract and he's available for any other club that can agree a fee with Luton.

Also personally, if Walters's football is so attacking, I'd prefer a fullback who can tackle as well as get forward.

He suits Carrick’s quick counter-attacking football anyway. Rosenior’s style didn’t suit Giles and I don’t think Walter’s will either. Walter has all these intricate rotations going on where the full-backs fill in as centre-backs or invert into midfield. Giles is a good attacking wing-back who excels at bombing forward and making those overlapping runs on the outside of the winger. He’s not great defensively.

I blame Reach PLC more than him but I agree he could be better about how he does it. Having interviewed with them in the past they dont seem like the nicest company but they own so much of the local papers now its probably hard to avoid them as journalist

He is actually not that lazy, he had problems with club and he knew he will be offloaded so he kind of give up performing for them and Fenerbahce decided to play backups against Olympiacos so that they will have better chance in league.

On the other hand I agree with this, since Acun took over, Hull is feeding Fenerbahce with money in return of useless player, except Tufan who had a very bad reputation and had to leave for fresh start.

To be fair, no club in Turkey would pay more than 1M for Allahyar, his next transfer to Westerlo kind of proves my point, Westerlo is another Turkish-owned team which is usually used by Turkish clubs to offload players. Last year they have done 5 transfers from Turkish clubs, year before 4 and it goes like 2021 -> 3, and 2020 -> 3, 2019 -> 4 transfers.

I would not prefer Hull to turn such a club to offload garbage players but direction seems similar.

It's an option not an obligation, if the player can opt to sign elsewhere, it's clearly not an obligation. Obligation are all completed when the initial loan is done, everything is done and agreed. That's clearly not the case.

Even the OWS said it was an option when he signed

    It's just sloppy journalism

It's an obligation. Not an option.

Only thing that's stops it is if the player wants to go to middlesboro instead.

Not how it works. If it was an obligation he’d have already agreed a contract when the loan deal was agreed. If Luton could just sell him to smoggies it wouldn’t be an obligation for us to buy

Exactly! Obligations are effectively permanent transfers at a later date. You can't get out of them, and that includes the buying club, the selling club and the player.

Baz has recently clarified it as an obligation. Middlesboro press also.

I suspect the player wants to go there, but it's an obligation between us and Luton if the player is willing to sign the permanent deal agreed in principle.

The deal between the 2 clubs is solid enough, but neither Luton or hull city could force him to sign any contract if he doesn't want to.

Baz is wrong, and the club website is right.

You're describing an option to buy as the price has already been agreed between the clubs

It is and it isn't. If the player is happy to sign permanently on the pre arranged terms, we or Luton don't have a say.

If he refuses, then there's a spanner in the works and it ends up with the agents and lawyers.

    Time will tell.

But it's not just Baz saying it.

    Middlesboro press.

They want him and he probably would rather go there, given he went out alone after our home game and applauded them.

Reluctantly they acknowledge there's a pre arranged deal and say it's unlikely.

If it doesn't happen, it'll be down to the player and agent, not us or Luton. That bit is fixed.

And you're completely ignoring that City's website stated it was an option when he signed. And guess what, Luton's official website calls it an option too.

    It's an option

Your personal definition of what an obligation is isn't really the point.

The point here, according to the information we have, is that we have signed up to an obligation to buy him for an agreed fee this summer, meaning we can't choose to back out of that from our side. Giles himself might not be obliged to go along with it, but we are. If Luton and us both agree then I'm sure we could cancel it, but the obligation is on City, so if Luton and Giles want the deal to be completed then we have to go along with it.

    Yet it's still in limbo.

As I already said, time will tell.

Or you can nail your colours to a mast in pure ignorance and risk looking like a noddy. Again.
