Yes, the stigma remains. In part this is because when British coaches have been given jobs at big clubs, they haven't done particularly well, which exacerbates the stereotype. Foreign coaches haven't fared any better at the same clubs, but the assumption persists.
Yes, it's multifaceted. One thing that isn't normal though, is looking at your own coaches and whether it's conscious or subconcious, thinking of them as lesser than, especially when they're actually not.
If we want him, offer him a contract. If he holds off on deciding we should move onto another target.
I never had a NE accent despite being brought up there and in a house which had two people who did have. Since I left the area my accent has been all over the place, although I don’t think I’ve picked up the rising inflective since living here. I use mannerisms in my speech which are definitely from Sunderland which I’m sure sound daft in my accent. Although I can say ha’way pretty well if I have to!
It wouldn't be normal if it was a fact, tbf it's just opinions. As things stand the best English manager may be Howe, he'll never manage a top club imo. He has quite a squad but some of their games have verged on embarrassing.
They’ve put another tweet out saying the think these are just some of the names being considered not all. In other words it’s a load of ****e.
If he is who we are in on, I would assume moving onto the next one might push us towards next week too. I don’t know. Maybe I'm drained of optimism.
Tricked wasn't probably the best word to use, perhaps "wrongly convinced" is more accurate. Heckingbottom: I think your assessment is very harsh, yes he has a northern accent, as do most of us on this forum, if the players can't understand his English, which is very clear to me and perhaps clearer than some people from the London area, they need to get better at English not the manager. British managers don't win the Prmeier League because they rarely get put in at top clubs and when they do they get the boot quicker than others due to the British coach stigma.
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/ranked-the-10-best-english-managers-in-football-right-now This article is a touch of dates but **** me it makes utterly bleak reading regarding English coaches.
One of the Athletic journalists have tweeted the same story so I'd be inclined to think there's something in it. It's only saying Rosenior is being considered by Burnley though. May or may not be enough to impact on him coming here depending on how advanced it is. If it is at all.
This is why I'm not really interested in discussing the minutiae of a coaches talents and tactics until I see the scarf photo ... ... I've been told it's Cifuentes but I haven't even Googled him.
