It’s not a lazy argument at all. We’ve had since February to scope this out. They could have understood Still’s demands early doors and squashed it. They didn’t do that.
that has nowt to do with ambition though. It has lots to do with competency which we lack. But not ambition.
Maybe so mate. But at least he has pedigree. This appointment is more than just managerial. It’s about ambition. They appointed Beale because they thought they were smarter than everyone else. Whether people like it or not, the optics of this appointment matter.
completely agree the optics matter. That’s why I’d rather Jansen. There’s nothing to say that Jansen has any different demands to Rosenior so I don’t necessarily think it’s obvious that it will come down to who accepts Dodds etc. for what it’s worth I think they both will.
This Dodds thing is doing my nut in. He was brought in to feed back to speakman. He’s not there to dictate who we can and can’t bring in. He should never be a stumbling block.
Yeah they do but I honestly don't think the optics of Rosenior is that bad, at least it shouldn't be. Heavy possession football which is the current successful method in this league. Championship experience which is something people cry out for. Speaks tremendously well and I don't mean a bullshitter like a Beale but he's an actual good person. Has been spoken about as the reason for getting players like Carvalho there on loan and he was very good for him in particular, first few paragraphs of this; https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...ews/fabio-carvalho-makes-big-hull-9291487.amp However i've made my views on the timing of this whole thing very clear and it's not good, if this appointment was weeks ago i'd be praising it but i'm kind of just breathing a sigh of relief that it's coming to a close.
Anyway. 2 hours ago we were mortified at the prospect of Challinor or Robinson. I think it’s fair to say Rosenior is less of a disaster than them. If it’s him, I hope we don’t get a Beale-like response. The club will clearly deserve questioning for how long it all took, but I hope it doesn’t go beyond that. Personally hope it’s still Jansen.
Perception is a very funny thing. Rosenior was a hell of a lot more highly rated by football fans before he was sacked by Hull. After his sacking, people have looked for reasons and problems with his coaching. If he was still at Hull and we were linked, I think a lot more people would consider him a good appointment.
The sacking of Rosenior has striking similarities to us sacking Mowbray. Outsiders looking at it in disbelief but the owners/directors at the club saying it was the right decision.
One thing I will say about Rosenior - I watched Hull a few times last season and they played some really tidy stuff.
I thought they were awful at the SOL. Scrappy goal that won it for them. I think he under achieved last season. He had the likes of Philogene, Carvalho, Twine and Delap to call on.
If you read what the owner had to say though, he doesn't mention "failure to not finish top 6" at all. That's the narrative that has been made to fit the situation. He talks about the style of play he's dreaming of not matching up with Rosenior's. It's a bit reminiscent of the Gary O'Neil situation at Bournemouth to be honest.
I don’t even think I’d be disappointed. Just a bit ‘meh’. All attention will turn to the transfer market soon after anyway, that’ll be key then.
