Good points. Took them a while to get going. Would’ve been promoted automatically if they had a better start to the season.
And that was with the 2nd best squad in the league in my opinion, some would say the best. How on earth will we start the season with our squad if we are underprepared?

@FellTop an actual coach has said pre season is the most important time for a coach. We can't allow anything to get in the way of a proactive and positive pre season.

I couldn’t agree more. Absolutely vital. We need some positivity going into pre-season, Dodds simply can’t be in charge. New man in and ready to go.

If Still has renaged on his promise to sign, that's not the clubs fault.
I'd rather get the right head coach in later rather than the wrong one in sooner.

Like what? We’re looking for a head coach to train players that are all on hols anyway.
Takes weeks to set training plans. The coach needs to do analysis of the season gone. The coach needs move and then get settled into the area. He then needs to appoint a coaching staff. The coaches that come with him need to move and get settled into the area. The coaches need to hold meetings with the players, individually and with the team as a whole. The recruitment team need to know what type of football we are going to be playing so they can start to identify suitable transfer targets. There's so much more as well. It isn't as simple as someone rocking up on the first day of pre season and everything being fine.

When does later become too late though? There's so much to do and not exactly much time to do it.

Apart from that, what have the Romans ever done for us?! ;)

Fair points, but much of that can only be done when players return and I doubt the new HC will have much say in transfers.

Not really, the only part of what I said that requires the players is the meetings. Even then, the individual ones would start right away if some players are available.

The coach doesn't need a say in recruitment and I am on the side of the debate where they shouldn't get too much of a say but the recruitment team need to know what type of football we will be playing. If the final 2 candidates are Still and Jensen they play completely different football, prefer different formations and set ups and prefer different types of players within their sides. Lets say we hire a coach that wants to play 2 strikers, we would have to recruit 4 probably. But if the coach prefers 1 striker then we require less.

The people saying its okay as long as the coach is in place in July are living in an absolute dream world. This isn't football manager where you click a button and you are coaching a new team on the other side of the world, these are humans who need time to get things in order.

That's why we have a model in place so there is some continuity in place

I am yet to see any continuity. The idea of the model is one I like and am a supporter of but we don't implement it properly at all. How is going from Mowbray to Beale continuity? How is going from Beale to Dodds continuity? How is it continuity to be in June and not have a head coach? How is saying we want possession football but going after Still continuity?

The club needs to have a playing identity set by the DoF, who then picks the coach and the players for the coach which fit under a particular style.

Can someone point out any continuity?

Nope, massively struggling

The fact we went from Neil - Mowbray - Beale - Dodds is enough evidence (or lack of) for me.
