Echo saying Chris Rigg is delaying his contract decision until he knows who the Head Coach is.

They've been pretty steadfast in saying he's staying so that's a concern.
He’s probably after assurances over his playing time/position he plays. For me he’s good enough to be starting centrally ahead of Ekwah, not stuck out on the right wing.

In an ideal world we’d have Neil and Rigg ahead of a new CDM and a new striker starting up top.

Ekwah and Jobe would be on the bench. All about opinions I suppose.

I stand by my opinion Jobe is the 9 solution staring us in the face.

I really like the lad but he doesn’t excel anywhere in midfield. He always looks good up top.

That Rigg report shows the importance of getting the coach in now. None of this 'its fine as long as the coach is in by pre season' bullshit. The appointment doesn't just tell people who the head coach is, it also shows the direction of the club. To me, the time for waiting for the right man is gone. If you don't know who the right man is or have that person on board by now you never will.

Agreed, it’s dragged on long enough now. Really hope we’re sorted this week.

I would be surprised if that Rigg story is true. Putting that out there doesn't benefit Rigg in any way and just stirs the fans up against the club. I reckon someone's dropped an anonymous line to the Echo and they're so desperate for engagement they've just ran with it. If Rigg was in this position at the Mags I very much doubt the Chronic would put this story out - says a lot about our local press and how they cover the club imo

Agree with the sentiment but you could argue it the other way. Waiting a few extra days to get the number 1 choice might be the difference between Rigg staying and leaving, if the number 2 choice isn't impressive.

Its not an easy job the club have got here. As you can see it both ways.

Don't agree with some of that, but,I get the sentiment. Problem is,none of us....and I include the Board,.... will know if we have the right man to achieve our objectives, until at least 10 matches, maybe more, into the season.

Lets be clear here - the Echo aren't saying that the "no head coach" is the concern. They're saying he's waiting to see WHO the head coach is.

So whilst ideally they'd be appointed by now, it seems more important than ever that the appointment is the right one, not the wrong one panicked.
