Have to say I think what Walker wrote is idiotic on his part. I dont knoe him, but he has printed some sound bites without engaging his journalistic brain in my opinion.

All evidence would suggest Lens have beaten us to a target. Not a massive surprise when you look at the current position of both clubs. If the rumours about the 1st June are true then we couldnt have moved quicker. The important thing now, for me, is to see how the club responds to the knock back. Personally hope we havent burned bridges with Maric.

Its just complete frustration mate, I see no reason a contract couldn't have been offered sooner and all of the apparent obstacles boxed off. Now we are left in a right mess and need to look at alternative options but other clubs have had a head start, hopefully the club had a backup plan.

Was sent a contract
Didn't sign it.

I agree it should've been done sooner but he's literally agreed to join then backtracked.

Craig Hope loves to stick the boot in and hasn't so I believing that version tbf

Wouldn't want him if he was going to jump elsewhere at the first whiff of a better deal. We've been here before with Alex Neil.

Time for everyone to move on and stop blaming the club for every element of this (not saying you are)

Still has totally ****ed us. Had a contract on the table and had been to the North East looking for somewhere to live.

He's used the Norwich offer to try and leverage us and then Lens again to get a better deal.

It doesn't get that far if we insisted Dodds was number 2.

Not saying Speakman hasn't ****ed up (though everyone was saying he wasn't the one doing the interviews a few weeks ago), but it's not that he won't budge on Dodds and Proctor.

Don’t blame Still for not signing the contract. Who’s to say Lens hasn’t offered him XXX and we’ve only offered him XX. He might have gone back to us and asked us to match it, which is fair, and we’ve said no. Should have had it wrapped it ages ago, and only have ourselves to blame.

100% mate. Madness and naieve to think Dodds and Proctor are the reason for this decision, so late in the day.

Anyway, Rene Maric, come on down. @Blond Bombshell has offered drinks on him with his winnings.
