My take on this is that the political system itself is broken beyond repair and the collective failure to recognise it and to bring forward meaningful improvements will continue to lead us to very much more of the same abject failure. We'll very likely get a labour Govt. for 5 years..maybe 10...then it'll be a change again.
When it comes down to it,there isn't much argument about what we need and the methodology of achieving it......much improved healthcare throughout the age groups, the very best education for our children and young adults, safe, warm and affordable housing for everyone, opportunity for people to acquire a skill and then to earn a living to provide for them and their family, and effective policing to keep us safe and to enable our women to walk the streets without fear.
Lots of other issues I know...immigration,climate change,AI,etc....but the only real argument we ever seem to have is how to fund it. As everything ever does,it comes down to money in the end.....and neither Sunak or Starmer have a ****ing clue.....either one will be a continuing, slow painful regression in almost every aspect of ordinary people's lives. We've opened the stable door, the horse has bolted and is long gone. As a once proud nation, our values, our culture, our sense of community, almost every aspect of our daily lives has been eroded,......there is no optimism, even amongst lots of the young,......we are ****ed.
If we are all together on here in 5 years time, nothing meaningful will have changed.........I invite you to bookmark it!
I'll be very, very happy for my Grandchildren if I'm wrong!
