But then he could've been poached by another team for less money, guess he was just offering the 3 year deal as it would have got us more compo had he left.

Would he have been poached mid-season? Doubt it. And if a PL club did want to poach him, an extra year or two on his deal wouldn't do much to stop them.

Not what i said. If he got us promoted without a 3 year deal then was poached we'd maybe get 1mill. If we give a 3 year deal then we get promoted we could get 5mill. No idea how much compo is for managers it was just an example.

But I said we could give him the 3 year deal if we made the play offs, which would come in the weeks before said promotion?

And if he reached the play offs with us before getting the 3 year deal, a bigger club could come in and poach him before that 3 year deal is signed.

You think a club is going to poach him during the play offs? What a strange hypothetical.

You realise he wasn't out of contract this summer and already had a relatively long term deal? The new three year deal only extended his contract by something like 18 months.

Instead there's a bigger payout cheque.

We have absolutely no idea what kind of break clauses are in the contract or anything like that, That could be based on certain parameters etc. there was absolutely nothing wrong with giving LR and his team a new deal, it was win win for all and that followed by very good backing in the window, should have seen us reach the play offs. We didn't and what's done is done.

None of us will ever fully know what happened and exactly what was said to LR behind closed doors in regards to style of play etc, but I find it very hard to believe with how strongly Acun feels about it, that LR wasn't clear in what style of football Acun wanted.

Unfortunately I think the writing was ok the wall so to speak, once the players went above him to try and change things.

Yep that's very true, there could have been a break clause. I still don't suspect Rosenior knew 100% he was being sacked which suggests there was no 'automatic' clause, but you're right, Acun may have had a cheap option in the contract, who knows.

No, in what world would a manager leave during the playoffs.

I'm saying if by that point other teams needed a manager they could sound him out and therefore he wouldn't have signed a new deal, doing it early gave the club some security.

Ok. I think you've come up with a pretty unlikely scenario to counter a perfectly reasonable and common scenario of a manager being rewarded with a better deal after a successful season, not during.

No FFP issues it seems. Or we're very confident in the fees we're getting.

Also flies in the face of this season being play offs or 'bust'.

Ryan Giles' £4m move from Luton Town is almost certain to be ratified giving City one of the best attacking full-backs in the division with his switch already agreed.

City expect to bring in as many as eight to 10 new players over the course of the summer and have no desire to sell either Greaves or Philogene, unless both players make it their express desire to move on.

Some interesting snips..

I bet it'll be more than 10 players. Seems like every summer there's a figure mentioned at the start of the window, which when you think about it for a minute is clearly less than we need, and then by the end of August we've signed about 50% more than that number.

Not s surprise, but also good to see confirmation in that article - City remain in discussions with the Premier League champions over the future of Liam Delap, with it not beyond the realms of possibility the popular 21-year-old will return, though it's extremely unlikely they'd stump up £10m.

I think a loan with a fee, with an option to buy is more than realistic, preferably with the upfront loan fee coming off the final payment.

Or they could just not be a set of bastards and be cool like Villa were with Jaden.

I reckon we’ve seen barely any opportunity for him to impress at all. That said, he hasn’t pulled up trees back in Turkiye in recent months.

We didn't see him because he wasn't fit or because he didn't fit the system or whatever. What little we did see of him didn't impress and I don't think he's the kind of player to chase back - £4M down the pan unless we can find some mug to repay part of that
