Acun didn't seem phased about the urgency behind making decisions on the out of contract players.

Guess the new Manager will have to be led by Andy Dawson, as he's unlikely to have much chance to observe them himself.

I suspect they'll all know if they going or staying already, the new manager's unlikely to have any involvement, the retained list may well have to be released before he's even appointed.

You're right, but unfortunately too infrequently.

Heightened expectations? He wants success, but Acun's expectations were to see an exciting, attacking brand of football. Rosenior promised it as far back as last summer (if not possibly earlier) and Acun was pretty clear right from the start what he wanted to see. Why is that "such an unrealistic degree"?

-> "The top 4 this season was set in stone, it was a waste pushing for it this year."
That is rubbish. Are you really saying Ipswich were "set in stone". At the start of the season, they were not expected to achieve like they have, and then for most of this season many have been expecting them to fall away. And then we all know that Leeds are prone to wheels coming off :emoticon-0105-wink:. Top 6 and then the lottery of the play offs were absolutely there for the taking.

But beyond all that, we come back to the style of football. The attacking improvement & intent (that some of us voiced concerns about whether or not it was in his locker so to speak even back at the end of last season or earlier), just didn't happen in any sustained way, even when he had the players.

    Fair comment, and I agree.

Giles is potentially a much better signing with a different manager, he certainly wasn’t even remotely worth taking on full time in the previous set up.

I was perfectly happy to see us have a go, though I didn't think it for a second it would come attached with unrealistically increased expectations.

I don’t think it’s heightened expectations in terms of league position, but they wanted to see more excitement with the attacking quality that was brought in, yet nothing about the way the team played really changed. We started getting a bit better towards the end but there was always the feeling pretty much unanimously that the squad was capable of more and our attacking play was very poor, you have constantly said as much yourself.

Looking back to some of Rosenior comments about sticking with his philosophy no matter what I wonder how many were aimed towards the ownership, some of them certainly seemed to be unprompted.

I just didn't want to be having a go to the detriment of our budget in 24/25.

And for me, that was unrealistic, and I would've preferred we never made those signings if I'd known it would mean that we'd now be ripping everything up and starting again if it didn't happen.

New year ish we were in the top 6 if that was by luck or judgement I don't know but Acun saw it and threw some quality players at it and by the end of the season we were out of the top 6th. I can see why he is dissapointed with Liam.
I am well aware of the AFCON, injuries and suspensions.

It would surely have happened anyway. Acun must have been **** bored and fed up half the time, I know I often looked at them all sitting there usually completely still and in silence looking like they were watching the EYFS Christmas play where their child is only in the ensemble.

Would you not agree though that until the players pressured for him to change his style via senior management Home games were dire? I dont remember us playing that well before christmas at Home, only away. Maybe in small patches in games, certainly not to the level of Boro or Ipswich when it was obvious he had been told to drop the tippy tappy stuff?

Just going by what Acun said yesterday. He said the reason that the style was good enough to earn Liam a new 3-year deal in December but not good enough to keep him here a few months later was that the January investment increased his expectations around style/entertainment. I don't like that at all, but it is what it is.

Yeah I’m not a fan of it either, it was strange timing anyway the new deal IMO but makes it all even weirder now

Surely easier to just say to Rosenior "I'm loving how the season is going, I'm going to give you a big January budget, and if you make the play offs I'll give you a new 3 year deal in the summer"?

But then he could've been poached by another team for less money, guess he was just offering the 3 year deal as it would have got us more compo had he left.
