How many times have you sat at pitch level sweating your bollocks off and coughing your lungs up? what causes you to do that? Never seen anyone sat there doing that, personally.
I was under the impression the loan could have been cancelled due to the extent of the injury and i was also under the impression we had discussed all options with Man City, if i am wrong then my bad but pretty sure we did discuss it with them about the options.

You can't cancel a loan just because a player gets injured, if you commit to paying his wages for a season, you need to do so.
Unfortunately not, you can't just cancel a season long loan due to injury. We still needed to pay the full loan few and agreed wages

Despite some saying it was very unlikely we'd see him again this season and that Man City could just deem him unfit to play, he is back in the side and he is playing. That is to no one's benefit other than us and the player (so long as he doesn't re-injure) so from that perspective we have 'stood by him' rather than just ruling him out with injury and sending him back for rehabilitation (while still paying his wage).
Delap will be back. Where else is he gonna go? Not good enough in the Prem and won’t get the minutes.
That's my view as well. I don't think a PL club will gamble on him and the relegated clubs won't be able to guarantee the minutes that we can.

Yeah I recall the debate on here a few months ago, and I still suspect there was a chance the loan could have been cancelled if both parties had agreed. We stuck by him and wanted to see him through his rehab if there was a chance he could play again, and we have. I mentioned on my podcast last night but I think back in 2010/11 was it Daniel Ayala who went back to Liverpool who then didn't let him come back to resume his loan? Or am I misremembering? I remember at the time some controversy about his treatment.
I remember something along those lines with Ayala but can't recall it fully as i am an old bastard now and forget things easily. Also reading that article it does suggest if Acun and Tan had made that decision then they must have been given options from Man City or why would they just have agreed when there was no need to..
Yes, to make a decision implies a choice or options. So I don't think it's as clear cut as some suggest.

You can't cancel a loan just because a player gets injured. How the do you think we'd react if Bahia called us tomorrow and said Oscar's injured, so we're sending him back, so you can pay him £20k a week instead? Obviously a loan could be cancelled if both clubs agreed, but what possible incentive would Man City have for taking back the wage commitment for a player who got injured playing for us?
There's a difference between a 2-3 week injury and a 4 month injury quite clearly. The incentive is us not pushing for Delap to get back too quickly and putting him out for 6 months which then impacts on his prospects for next season. Otherwise we should have just pushed him to play from the start of March and if he got re-injured so be it, not our issue.
